Apparently the new F1 season is going to be dramatic. The first race was already shocking with Ferrari winning first and second place in Bahrain, while Red Bull had to retire both cars. It also seems that we will watch Leclerc vs Verstappen go wheel to wheel upfront more often this year. So, a lot of excitement is ahead, but it will be even more if you play F1 fantasy league along the way. Our guide here focuses on FanTeam as one of the best online DFS sites in Finland.

How to Get Started at FanTeam

If you did not experience fantasy sports yet, then go to FanTeam and create an account. Once you are registered you will become a dear customer. At the lobby and the sidebar you will easily find the F1 fantasy League. So, overall the usability of the site is extremely easy. However, if you are completely new to the idea of fantasy sports, then you have to check out our article on how to play real time fantasy sports.

General Rules on F1 Fantasy League

For starters, to play F1 fantasy League you have to create a team. To do so you will be able to pick six men, consisting of 5 drivers and 1 constructor (Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes, etc.). You will have a virtual budget of £100 million to buy your drivers and of course their price varies from around £30m for Verstappen to around £5m for Magnussen.

The F1 fantasy league is for a full season. So, 23 races and each race weekend is a Gameweek. You will have the chance to score points during the qualifying, sprint races, and the actual Grand Prix of every round. Okay, let us now get down to the nitty-gritty of the gameweeks.

Some Detailed Rules of the Game

First thing to put in mind is that you can pick a maximum of two from each actual team when creating your own fantasy team. This means that you can select either two drivers, let us say Lelcler and Sainz, or one driver and the constructor Ferrari. If you wish to make any changes you can do that freely until the Free Practice 2 takes place. When there is a sprint race (there will be three this season) you can make changes until the start of the qualifying.

Another important point is that you will have the chance to make one free transfer at each Gameweek. But you can save up to a maximum of three transfers and use them later. So, that is all you need to know about the rules but you also have to know about how the scoring works.

The Scoring System

If you are not a newbie at FanTeam and you played F1 fantasy League in 2021, you will likely notice that there are few changes to the scoring system. First about the driver scoring there are extra points you can earn by completing the fastest lap. It includes the fastest lap for a sprint race and for the Grand Prix. However, if you fail to finish or you get disqualified, you will have 2.5 points deducted for qualifying and sprint, and 5 points for the Grand Prix.

For constructors’ scoring it is all about the top 5 teams. These teams will receive between +0.5 and +2 points in qualification and sprint races. In the Grand Prix they will receive between +1 and +5 points, depending on the finishing position. So many points available to win but what about the prize pool?

Massive Prize Pool on the Line

The prize pool is €20,000. The top 150 entries at the end of the contest receive payout between €40 and €2,000. It simply depends on where you finish in the position. You can see the entire distribution of the payouts by clicking on the prizes at FanTeam. If you like our guide and you wish to know more about fantasy sport, just check out our review about FanTeam.
