Introduction of Serbian gambling laws to cover internet gambling is a serious concern for JAKTA, the primary Serbian association of gambling operators, sanctioned technicians, and developers of slot machines. The Serbian administration is now contemplating modifications to the nation’s standing gambling laws. Online betting in Serbia is expected to be located towards the top of the agenda.

President of JAKTA Mirjana Acimovic declared the alliance’s members wish to align Serbia’s gambling industry with international standards by utilizing a contemporary framework and modern equipment.

Speaking upon internet gambling in Serbia, Acimovic declared “We plan to implement best-practice examples from well-regulated gaming markets and try to avoid mistakes made in others…. Regulating online gaming, creating a modern gaming laboratory, defining minimum technical requirements and enforcing responsible gaming and better oversight – these are all key issues we are constantly working on…. The Serbian gaming market will continue to adopt new solutions for the advancement of the industry.”

Though there are currently no laws prohibiting internet gambling in Serbia, confusion surrounded online gambling arrests in Serbia last October. Both foreigners and nationals who provide customer support for Go Wild Casino were arrested for running a gambling operation which was licensed neither by the Serbian National Lottery nor the Games of Chance Administration within the Ministry of Finance. Go Wild’s lawyers worked to resolve the issue, but no updates – including whether any suspects have been released – have been made publically available since the arrests were made.
