The recently liberalized Spanish gambling laws have already seen 15 operators receive a license from the first batch. Operations on the .es domain went live on June 5 and so far are going strong.
Another big name to join the pack is CIRSA Gaming Corporation, the largest land-based operator in the country, looking to offer its version of online casinos in Spain. Besides the casino the gambling company will offer online poker and online bingo to its members, while the software provider behind the games will be the renowned Microgaming.
CIRSA will join the ranks of Betway, Ladbrokes, Interwetten, and Stan James, all operating a mix of highly popular Prima Network products including Poker, Casino and Bingo gambling products. Microgaming software enjoys a commanding position in various markets throughout the world, thanks to its innovative solutions, highly popular suit of real money online games, and diverse customer support.
Director of Prima Network Spain, Loraine Schoevers, told Spain gambling news: “We’re very excited to be supplying our software to some of the leading operators in Spain . Our quality products will undoubtedly help this newly regulated market flourish in the way that it has elsewhere in world.”
General Manager of eGaming at CIRSA, Sonia Carabanta, commented: “These are exciting times for CIRSA, having just launched into the online sector in a country where our brand already has a great presence and reputation. As such we want to provide the very best offering for our players, reflecting the professional experience our customers are used to.”
It still remains to be seen just how well the new Spanish gambling regulations and taxation regime will work for the big guns of online gambling in the light of unfavorable economic climate in Spain in particular and around the world in general.
