The beginning of the new decade has once again brought us the season of the T20 World Cup. T20 being the most thrilling version of cricket is certainly everyone is talking about. The tournament takes place every 2 years, however this time around, the tournament is coming back after 4 years; making it as special as the ICC World Cup itself. The Big Dance will take place in Australia starting from October 2020. T20 World Cup odds are always unpredictable which makes betting all the more fun. The 16 teams which will take part in the tournament are already announced and will head to Australia. Other than our usual teams, we have a few debutants this year, Namibia and Papua New Guinea. Local Organising Committee CEO, Nick Hockley extends his warm wishes to the new teams playing in Australia: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands, Oman, Papua New Guinea, and Scotland to Australia for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2020.”

The fixtures are final after the selection of the 16 teams. The Round 1 matches will decide teams will go on to take part in the Super 12. The Super 12 will progress to the knockout stages. To decide which teams will make it to the Finals we will look at the rankings of the teams of some of the top teams in ICC T20 ranking.

Pakistan - 270

Pakistan is leading the chart with the highest number of matches won in the T20 series. Former Champions of 2009 and runner ups in the first-ever T20 World Cup 2007, Pakistan could make for a safe bet. Pakistan’s Babar Azam also shares the same spotlight and is at no. 1 in the batting ranking with 879 points. However, Pakistan is known to be unpredictable with their playing style, which is why the odds of Pakistan as an outright winner are at 11.00 at bet365.

Australia - 269

The host team is following closely behind Pakistan and have a chance of changing the ranking chart this year. Glenn Maxwell ranks at number 2 as the best all-rounder in the series and gives Australia the edge it needs. Although the Australian team has never been able to hold the trophy, their odds of 3.75 suggest otherwise.

England - 265

England is the current Champion of the ICC World Cup after a rather nerve-wracking final against New Zealand in 2019. Online sportsbooks sites in the UK are all about England turning their win into a streak by taking home another cricket trophy. If England’s odds of 5.50 follow through this will be their second win in the T20 World Cup.

India - 264

India is one of the strongest teams in the tournament and definitely knows how to set the pace right at the beginning of each tournament. The team line-up under Virat Kohli’s captaincy makes India's second best to take the trophy home once again after 2007. KL Rahul also ranks as second best in the batting ranking with 823 points. India’s odds as an outright winner ranks at 4.50 at the bet365 sportsbook.

T20 World Cup odds for Afghanistan and West Indies

In cricket, we witness bare minimum inclusion when it comes to involving other countries in the game. This intentional exclusion is leading to waste in the potential of teams and players subsequently. The debut of Afghanistan in T20 in 2010 sets a perfect example of how a team can prove itself. Afghanistan has the top bowler in the T20 series and proves as a tough competitor and is already in the Super 12 alongside India, England, and South Africa. Odds for Afghanistan are at 51.00 for the upcoming event. The current T20 World Champions West Indies are ranking on number 9 with a score of 223. West Indies never relies on ranking, to begin with, their strong gameplay is what wins them matches. Online sportsbook news in the UK suggests not to take West Indies lightly as they could very much defend their previous win. odds for West Indies at bet365 are at 10.00.
