The UK’s annual four-day horseracing event, the Cheltenham Festival, announces additional sponsorship from insurance provider JLT.

In UK gambling news, the insurance company JLT has agreed to become the title sponsor for the 2014 Cheltenham Festival’s Grade One two-and-a-half mile novices’ chase during the third day of the event.

This year, the race will be held on 13 March and will be renamed as the JLT Novice’s Chase, as part of the sponsorship agreement with the Cheltenham Festival.

UK gambling laws are relaxed when compared to other countries, allowing for gambling in nearly all its forms. Betting at the races is a popular gambling past time for many in the UK.

Cheltenham Festival gain extra sponsorship

The Cheltenham Festival first ran in 2011 and has been upgraded to Grade One Status for the first time. In 2014, it will carry a prize fun of GBP 120,000.

However, it is not the first time that JLT has participated in the Cheltenham Festival, since they have also supported the extended three-mile handicap chase on the Champion Day in 2012 and 2013.

JLT’s chairman of international specialty, Jonathan Palmer-Brown said that the insurance provider were “proud” of their association with the festival and “intend to promote a few races next year for novices on the way to the championship as well.”

The Cheltenham Festival will run from 11-14 March 2014 and has attracted a number of sponsors from other companies in the gambling sector, including Sky Bet and UK bookmakers Stan James.
