1. Miss Russia, the 18 years-old high school graduate

Yulia Polyachikhina was already a successful model before trying herself in pageants.  Actually, it was pageantry where she made herself a name. First, she finished as the first runner-up to Miss Chuvashia 2015. The following year she was crowned as Miss Chuvashia.

Fast-forward to 2018, Yulia – who’s still only 18 years-old – is preparing to represent Russia at Miss Universe in Thailand. Yulia’s hobbies include aerobic and badminton. As for her future, she’s planning to study journalism. Based on her Miss Universe betting odds, Yulia is currently the 4th most likely to win.

2. Miss Thailand has the home-field advantage and much more

23 year-old investment banker, Sophia Kanchanarin will be competing in her hometown, Bangkok. Sophia is completely new to the world of pageantry. However, that didn’t stop her from winning the Miss Thailand crown.

Sophia might be underestimated by the bookies but she could easily surprise them all. First of all, she was crowned in one of the capitals of pageantry without prior experience in pageantry.  Also, her interviews are truly inspirational.

3. Miss Philippines has the support and experience

Though she’s only 24 years-old, Catriona Gray has been an established name in Thai pageant circles since 1999. As an adult, she loves pageantry because at “the heart of it is the advocacy.”

Catriona’s ‘Question and Answer’ section in 2016 at Miss World Philippines has won her the crown. In 2018, she has the support of her whole country. Meanwhile, her betting odds are not the best. But, she has everything to surprise us all: beauty, grace, and wit.

Check out the bookies’ favorites from last year!
