Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes might leave Old Trafford this summer, as he was not selected for Manchester United’s tour in the United States.

It was confirmed by Manchester United that Victor Valdes left out from their travelling squad. The Red Devils crossed the Atlantic to the United States on Monday for a four-match tourney. However, Louis van Gaal did not include his 33-year-old goalkeeper to the squad. The news might stun many of those, who gamble online. Valdes is a possible replacement for his fellow Spaniard David de Gea.

First it was speculated that Valdes was left out from the squad due to injury. However, online gambling news in the UK revealed that he was simply “not selected” for the trip. It is surprising as first choice goalkeeper David de Gea has been linked heavily with a move to Real Madrid since months.

Valdes left home might indicate transfer

Valdes left out by Van Gaal might suggest a rift between the keeper and the manager or an imminent transfer. It has emerged from the media that Turkish side Antalyaspor would sign the former Barcelona-goalkeeper. However, Valdes’ agent denied that his client is interested in a move to the Turkish club. Valdes left out is intriguing as goalkeeping might be an issue for Manchester United before next season.

Many of those, who bet on sports in the EU expect De Gea to join Real Madrid this summer. That would leave United with Valdes, as the favourite to stand in goal. However, after this incident, it seems, that the Spaniard is about to leave. Then, Anders Lindegaard would be Van Gaal’s default goalie. The Dane used to challenge De Gea, but now is no more than a substitute keeper for United. The Red Devils also have the young Sam Johnstone, who has yet to make his debut for them. However Valdes left out might also indicate that De Gea will remain at Old Trafford.
