The loud brash boys over at NASCAR are back again for another high octane season of racing that will take them from the Daytona beaches to the Brickyard in Indianapolis with all the thrills and spills we’ve come to expect from this the down and dirty truly American motorsport. The question is just which of these speed freaks should you be backing if you’re going to tale advantage of US gambling laws to bet on the Daytona 500 at BetVictor and the like? We take a look.

  • Can Martin Truex Jr begin the defense of his title with at win in Daytona?
  • Should you bet on the Daytona 500 being won by 10/1 shot Denny Hamlin?
  • Will Chase Elliot overcome those 12/1 odds to take victory at Daytona?
  • Could bookie’s favorite, 7/1 Brad Keselowski, take the win on the day?

“NASCAR and the Daytona 500 are about as American as you can get.” Or so said Rick Santorum, former Senator for Pennsylvania and currently apologist in chief for the Republican Party on CNN. Obviously it could be argued that in the era of Donald Trump treason, disingenuous lies and being unable to grasp simple concepts are slightly more American, however you can probably bet on the Daytona 500 to have slightly more class than either the US President or the Republican Party.

Simple, loud, exciting to watch and possibly involving a massive crash the US presidency resembles NASCAR in numerous ways, however whilst in NASCAR the cars turn left, US politics is definitely turning the other way. Of course if you already regularly bet on sports in the US the chances are a bet on the Daytona 500 is a mainstay on your calendar, but for those not familiar with this supposedly seminal American event let’s take a look at the set up for a motorsport that makes F1 look like NASA.

The NASCAR Season Gets Underway This Weekend

Stock car racing developed out of the competitive world of bootlegging and The Daytona 500 itself has been around since the late fifties, although it was only some twenty years later it earned its place within the fabric of US sports when it was first televised live on CBS and the coverage of the race included some great driving, some dramatic crashes and a fistfight between the Allison brothers Donnie & Bobby and rival Cale Yarborough on the infield. Anyone in the US gambling news coverage would be of the winner Richard Petty the next day had bet on the Daytona 500 being just another race, it wasn’t.

Since it first burst upon the national consciousness in such a dramatic fashion, and coming just a week after the Super Bowl from somewhere warm and sunny, it has taken on a flavor of the United States that perhaps reflects the typically very nationalist stance of its traditional audience and the presentation of the Harley J Earl trophy is now flashed around the world, as is footage of the crashes like the pile up crash last year that saw over a dozen cars bet on the Daytona 500 having enough safety features to save them.

Last year’s race also highlighted the need for good fuel management with Martin Truex and Kyle Larson running out of juice within sight of the end and Kurt Busch taking the win because of it, making the big question should you bet on the Daytona 500 being as eventful this year? It would seem likely, the bookies online like BetVictor predicting a close race with the Team Penske driver Brad Keselowski currently garnering the best of the available odds going into the race 7/1 favorite.

Last year’s winner only gets 25/1 to pull the feat off two years on the trot, and last year’s season’s champion, Martin Truex Jr gets a slightly better 14/1 and is a pretty good bet on the Daytona 500 although a lot of the smart money is on Chase Elliot from Hendrick Motorsports at 12/1 and Denny Hamlin at 10/1. Who will win? You’ll have to watch the race to find out, just remember it’ll be as American as mom’s apple pie, the statue of Liberty or electing someone unsuitable to be President.
