The winner of the 2021/22 Serie A season was AC Milan, while their local rivals, Inter Milan won the 2022 Italian Cup. The 35th Supercoppa Italiana or also known as the Italian Super Cup will be held in an unusual location, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But it’s actually the 12th time that this prestigious match is held outside of Italy, in the middle of winter. Beijing, New Jersey, and Doha have all hosted this game before. Along with the Saudi capital which will organize the cup for the third time next year. The location might have changed in the last few years, but the participants are the same. The actual winner of the domestic league, the Serie A, and the winner of the Italian Cup. This time we can find two Milanese clubs in the contenders, AC Milan and Inter Milan. Inter are actually the defending cup winners after they defeated Juventus in last year’s final. While Milan will aim for their first Super Cup trophy since 2016.

The 2022 Italian Super Cup Preview Slightly Favors Inter to Win

Inter Milan won the 2021/22 Coppa Italia in an exciting final against Juventus. After a 2-2 draw following the 90 minutes, Ivan Perisic scored twice to get the win for his team. Since then the Croatian midfielder left the club, but we can still find top players in the squad. From his compatriot, Marcelo Brozovic to Nicolo Barella. And such strikers, as Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko, and Lautaro Martinez. Dzeko has been the most successful among them with 9 goals. But Martinez also scored 8 goals in the season. With players like Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao in AC Milan, goals are expected from both teams.

Online sportsbooks in Italy offer an odds of 1.65 for that, but each team to score 2 or more has much higher odds at 4.16. But let’s go back to Inter’s current form. Simone Inzaghi’s team is currently in fifth place in the table, but only three points behind AC Milan. They are also through to the knockout stage in the Champions League after finishing ahead of Barcelona in the group. But they lost 3-2 against their local rival in their last meeting in September. And also suffered defeats from Juventus, Roma, and Lazio. This will be a special game where surely all Inter players will give their best. While the 2022 Italian Super Cup preview also offers the smaller odds, 2.45 for Inter’s win.

AC Milan have been the better team this season

Stefano Pioli’s team won their 19th Serie A title last season, the first one since the 2010/11 season. And they continued on a similar level in spite of losing against Napoli and Torino. They are in second place in the table, 8 points behind current leaders Napoli. Milan also got through to the last 16 in the Champions League in a relatively easy group. Next, they will face Tottenham Hotspur though in a more challenging tie. But the match against their arch-rival is promised to be a tough one as well.

Online gambling sites in Italy offer similar odds for their win with 2.755. But even a draw is possible and has an odds of 3.54. Milan’s squad might not look as strong as Inter’s, but we can find several World Cup participants in it. Like French Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud, American Sergino Dest and Portuguese Rafael Leao. But Fikayo Tomori, Ismael Bennacer, and Sandro Tonali are also key members of the team. The previous Super Cup ended with a 2-1 Inter win after extra time. Now the most likely result after 90 minutes is another 1-1 draw which has an odds of 7.00 on 22Bet. And if you think that extra time will be needed to find the winner, you can make a bet on that at the odds of 6.10.
