Online Sports Betting Laws in Poland 

According to the Gambling Law of 19 November 2009 (Ustawa o grach hazardowych), there are two forms of sports betting allowed: bookmaking and totalisator systems.  The first is defined as "betting for cash or in-kind prizes consisting of guessing the occurrence of various events, including virtual events, where the participants pay stakes and the value of prizes depends on the ratio of the stake and prize as agreed between the entity accepting the bet and the stake payer". While the second is considered all the “betting for cash or in-kind prizes consisting of guessing the results of sports competitions among humans or animals, where participants pay stakes and the value of the prize depends on the total of stakes paid". In order to apply for a license, operators must pay a collateral of PLN 480,000 and a fee of PLN 403,000, though this last value depends on the average salary indicator. Moreover, they have to pay a gambling tax of 12% of the total value of collected stakes without deducting payouts.
