Las Vegas is certainly a city famed for its casinos and gambling, but the truth is spending all day and night at the roulette table or in the poker room can get a little tedious, or expensive, so check out our recommendations for some cool things to do in Vegas outside the casinos.

While it’s impossible to escape from the presence of Vegas’ casinos, it is still possible to branch out and do other really cool things in Las Vegas.

So when you need a break, try these seven cool things to do in Vegas!

Travel the globe

Las Vegas’ most awesome bars:

Mermaid Bar & Lounge. Dine in a giant aquarium with a performance by the local mermaids. Surreal and a unique Vegas experience

Ghostbar. For the most dramatic spot in the city, head over to Ghostbar, suspended 55 floors above the city on a see-through patio

Bar at Times Square. Head back to New York for the night to this packed bar where dueling pianos provide the entertainment

Revolution. Travel back in time to the swinging sixties for a spot of Beatle nostalgia, complete with music, memorabilia and the whole works
Ever wanted to travel the world? Well in Las Vegas you can both travel and stay put at the same time.

While its casinos are famed for gambling, there is more to the Venetian than the illusion of playing in an Italian poker room, but you can also get a taste of Italy by riding a gondola and visiting St. Mark’s Square.

Want to see the Eiffel Tower? Go to Paris Las Vegas. The Big Apple? No problem! Head over to New York New York for a taste of Central Park and the Empire State Building.

Swim with sharks and dolphins

Las Vegas might be in the middle of the desert, but there is no need to head to the Florida Keys to swim with dolphins or sharks.

Mirage offers guests the chance to work with a family of bottlenose dolphins with a group of animal experts in an educational program, but if you don’t fancy getting wet there are some other activities.

The painting with dolphins program allows guests to get involved in an artistic collaboration with a dolphin with watercolors, or if you want to work out with a difference, then do a yoga session with dolphins as your audience.

If you want something more extreme than dolphins, check out Shark Reef in Mandalay Bay. Here you can get up close with sharks with their “Dive With The Sharks” program.

Eat well

Las Vegas not only offers a number of top class casinos, but also you’ll find a variety of restaurants to tantalize your tastebuds.

Sin City is famed for its great American cuisine, from the iconic BBQ delicacies, steaks and Soul Food. Check out M&M’s Soul Food or go for the all American burgers on offer at Hash House a-Go Go, in American portions.

Take sommelier classes

Get a touch of class with some of the sommelier workshops on offer at the Bellagio.

The casino-hotel has 17 sommeliers and three master sommeliers, holding a world record that falls outside of gambling news.

You can sign up to learn from the masters each third Wednesday of the month, where you’ll not only sample fine wines, but get to learn about the soil and climate effect on the grapes.

SlotZilla

Ever fancied zip lining over downtown Vegas? Now you can with the new SlotZilla experience.

The zip line starts off from an 11-story, 120-ft high tower platform set at two different levels, which looks like a slot machine.

The lower level goes from the height of 70 feet above ground, but for more extreme riders, the second option is to go from the higher level, where riders are shot out at 35 miles per hour with a propeller launch system.

The new experience is a first of its kind in the US and will become one of the country’s must-do attractions.

Explore Vegas

There is more to Las Vegas than its Strip, so when the whole experience turns into a sensory overload, you can always go exploring a different side of Vegas.

The northwest part of the town is a complete world away from the glitzy casinos, and Rancho Drive has a variety of historic sites, like the Las Vegas Springs Preserve, which comes with botanical gardens and museums exhibitions.

It might come as a shock to see Las Vegas looking so green for once!

Get on a giant trampoline

Find your inner child at the SkyZone indoor trampoline.

This huge complex is filled with a grid of trampolines and padded rooms allowing even fully-grown men to regress to the simple joys of bouncing.

The indoor trampoline park is the world’s very first all-trampoline playing court, and unique to the Vegas Valley.

What better way to get rid of all that gambling frustration when you lose, or literally jump for joy when you score big?

The SkyZone Park is open to any age, shape or size and is most definitely a cool, under the radar thing to do on your next trip to Las Vegas!
