Gambling companies, targeting overseas players, are encouraged to apply for online gambling licenses in the Philippines.

Philippine President, Rodrigo Duterte has prohibited online gambling in the Southeast Asian nation in order to protect disadvantaged citizens. "I was mad because even the youth are gambling and there was no way of collecting the proper taxes," reasoned his decision Duterte.

Philippine overseas gambling licenses to offset losses

According to Philippine gambling news, to counteract the supposed losses, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is preparing a new framework for the issuing of licenses to casino and betting operators targeting non-locals. "We're readying the application forms. It's no longer the Filipinos who are betting but foreigners," said PAGCOR CEO, Andrea Domingo.

Meanwhile, Duterte said that he might withdraw the ban “provided taxes are correctly collected,” and parlors are in reasonable distance from churches and schools.

"Pay the correct taxes... Gamble until you die. I do not really care."
