The 2020 National Rugby League season kicks off on March, 12 and it has already started to pique rugby fans’ interest. Will the Roosters defend their title for the third time this year? Which team is going to boost their ratings and which one is going to be knocked out? The season is going to start in just a few weeks and it’s time to check the 2020 NRL odds.

Sydney Roosters

Sydney Roosters is one of the oldest and most prestigious teams in the modern NRL. The team was founded back in 1908, under the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Club's name. Roosters won the 2018 and 2019 championships, along with 18 other competitions.  This year, the team will have to play without Cooper Cronk, who suddenly retired after the 2019 NRL season. Cronk was the first NRL player to win two back-to-back Premierships under two different teams. A new team member, Kyle Flanagan is going to take up the halfback role this year. Nevertheless, Sydney Roosters are oddsmakers’ favorite with 4 odds to win the 2020 NRL season. The team will compete with the Penrith Panthers on March, 14.

Melbourne Storm

Melbourne Storm is a team from Melbourne, Victoria, which became the first professional club in the area. The Storm won Premierships three times, in 1999, 2012 and 2017. However, all of the team’s trophies gained between 2006 and 2010 were taken away due to the salary cap scandal. Despite the Storm having to go through a bit of a rough patch, the team is a runner-up with 6.5 odds on Megapari Sportsbook. Melbourne Storm is going to play against Manly Sea Eagles on March, 15.

Canberra Raiders

Canberra Raiders is the professional team from the Australian capital. After the foundation of the team in 1981, the Raiders won 3 Premierships. Over the course of 8 years, they featured in the Grand Final and in Premierships. Unfortunately, the Super League War cut short the team’s most successful period and the Raiders haven’t won the Grand Final for 25 years. Yet the Raiders still get high odds - according to online sportsbooks in Australia, the team has 7.5 odds of winning the 2020 season. Canberra Raiders are going to play with Gold Coast Titans on Friday, March, 13.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Alongside the Sydney Roosters, South Sydney Rabbitohs is one of the foundation teams, formed back in 1908. Since the establishment, the team managed to win 21 Premierships. As one of the oldest representatives of the New South Wales Rugby Football League (NSWRFL), the team represents Redfern, one of Sydney municipalities. During the 2019 NFL season, the Bunnies won third place. This year, the team gets 9 odds to win the Grand Final on Megapari Sportsbook Fun fact - the actor Russel Crowe is one of the club’s shareholders, owning 50% of stocks.

Parramatta Eels and Manly Warringah Sea Eagles enclose the list of oddsmakers’ favorites. Two teams are based in different Sydney municipalities: Sea Eagles came from the Northern Beaches, while Eels are from the Sydney suburb of Parramatta. Moreover, both of them were founded on November 4, 1946. Though, there is a difference between the two teams. Sea Eagles won slightly more Premierships - the Northern Beaches team owns 8 titles. At the same time, Parramatta Eels won a total of four Premierships. Just like Melbourne Storm, Eels had to deal with the salary cap scandal in 2016, which led to a suspension from the 2016 Auckland Nines Premiership.  Both of the teams have equal chances - based on Megapari Sportsbook’s predictions, teams have 11 odds to win the 2020 NRL season.
