Spanish fans can follow their second Copa del Rey final in two weeks time this weekend. When the last two remaining teams of this year’s tournament, Athletic Bilbao and FC Barcelona meet in Seville. In the 2021 Copa del Rey final odds favor the Catalans to win while Bilbao can try again to win the trophy after their defeat against Real Sociedad.

It might sound strange but Athletic Bilbao will play their second Copa del Rey final in 14 days. Thanks to the postponement of last season’s final, which was held only two weeks ago in the same stadium, at La Cartuja in Seville. Then the game was a real Basque derby between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad. Bilbao lost that game 0-1 eventually but now they have another opportunity to win the trophy. They won’t have an easier job though against Barcelona who can win their first trophy under the management of Ronald Koeman. But it’s not impossible to beat them as we could witness in last week’s El Clasico. Where they lost 2-1 against archrival Real Madrid.

2021 Copa del Rey final odds favor Barcelona to win the cup

Online sportsbooks in Spain favor the Catalans to win the final and offer the odds of 1.45 for their victory. It is understandable as the team has been in great form. They were unbeaten for 19 games until their defeat against Real. This loss might mean the end of their championship hopes, being only in third place now. Even though they are only two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid. But after being knocked out from the Champions League too, the Copa del Rey final can be Barca’s biggest chance to win a title this season.

And as we are used to it, Lionel Messi can play a key part in a victory. He has the smallest odds, 1.53 to score any time in the game. Ahead of Antoine Griezmann and Martin Braithwaite who might not even start depending on Ronald Koeman’s tactics. As the Dutch manager often changes his players and their playing forms, not always finding the most successful set-up. But still the team managed to get to the final defeating Rayo Vallecano, Granada and Sevilla on their route. Now the club can win their 31st Copa del Rey title and the first trophy with Koeman.

Bilbao’s chances

But we shouldn’t write off Athletic Bilbao as the team has already beaten Barcelona this season. They won 3-2 against Barca in the Spanish Super Cup final this January. Then Inaki Williams scored the crucial third goal in the extra time. Their team also defeated Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Super Cup. While they knocked out Real Betis and Levante in this season’s Spanish Cup. Beside these results, their head coach, Marcelino also knows how to beat Barca. As he won against them in the 2019 Copa del Rey final with his former team, Valencia.

But in spite of all these successes, Bilbao will have a very tough task to win this game. Online gambling sites in Spain offer the odds of 6.50 for their victory in their 2021 Copa del Rey final odds. The Basque team is only in 11th place in La Liga and hasn’t won any game for five rounds now. They also lost both games against their Catalan rivals in the league. But their performance against Sociedad can be a reason for optimism. The team’s defense worked almost perfectly until Inigo Martinez made a fault in the penalty area. While their forwards, like Williams and Iker Muniain can also cause problems in the Barcelona back. If they score, the team has a chance to win their 24th Spanish Cup title. The first since their last victory in 1984.
