  • 2021 Europa League semi-finals first legs take place on the 29th of April
  • Manchester United will host A.S. Roma, while Arsenal will visit Villareal
  • Both English teams are favored to win their ties and get to the final

Manchester United vs AS Roma and Villareal vs Arsenal ties are waiting for football fans in this year’s Europa League semi-finals. The first games will be held on the 29th of April followed by the second legs a week later. The 2021 Europa League semi-finals odds favor the home teams to win the first games, but an all-English final is the most likely version in May.

There wasn’t any big surprise in this year’s Europa League quarter-finals, as most big teams managed to qualify for the next round. Even though Arsenal fans were surely a bit nervous after their team only drew 1-1 at home against Slavia Prague. But yesterday the Gunners showed a confident performance and won 4-0 in the Czech capital. Manchester United won both games against Granada and will try to reach the final this year. Just like Villareal who knocked out Dinamo Zagreb with a double victory. Probably Roma had the toughest job against Ajax, but Edin Dzeko came to their rescue and scored the crucial goal in the second half. Now his team will face the Red Devils while the Yellow Submarine hosts Arsenal in two weeks’ time.

2021 Europa League semi-finals odds favor United to qualify against Roma

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team has been in top form both in the Premier League and the Europa League in 2021. They are the biggest favorites to win the tournament this season after their latest success in the 2016-17 season. Online sportsbooks in the UK offer the odds of 1.33 for their qualification to the final. While their opponent, A.S. Roma have the odds of 3.25 to do the same. The two teams know each other well as they met six times in the Champions League in 2007 and 2008. Including the 2007 quarter-final, where United knocked out the Italian team 7-1.

Now Roma have the chance to take revenge and defeat them. Their ex-United players like Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan can give some useful tips to Roma manager Paulo Fonseca. While French midfielder, Jordan Veretout can be a key player. Just like Spanish forward Borja Mayoral who has already scored 7 goals in the tournament. But certainly it will be a very tough task to beat last year’s semi-finalists who were knocked out by Sevilla in 2020. Now United and their top players like Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford are in a much better form. So it’s not a surprise that they are predicted to win the first game at Old Trafford with the odds of 1.57. in the 2021 Europa League semi-finals odds.

Arsenal could reach the final again after 2019

Even though Mikel Arteta’s side is only in 9th place at the moment in the Premier League they still managed to get to the semi-final in the Europa League. The team has shown very mixed performances so far in the tournament.  From winning their team confidently to losing 1-0 against Olympiacos at home. Luckily they were playing much better away, which might worry the Villareal fans. Still, at home the Spanish team is slightly favored to win the first game with the odds of 2.40. Arsenal’s odds for a victory at Estadio de la Ceramica are 2.87 on bet365.

This tie is even more special as Villareal’s current manager, Unai Emery spent a year at the Gunners. So clearly he knows most of the players from Alexandre Lacazette to Nicolas Pepe, who scored the most goals in the EL games so far. But Emery can trust his own players now to give their best in order to reach the first European final of the club’s history. Gerard Moreno and Paco Alcacer can play the biggest part with their goals in a victory. Online gambling sites in the UK still favor Arsenal to qualify for the final with the odds of 1.61. Winning the Europa League is the only chance for Arteta’s team to achieve any good result this season. Which can also be the best chance for the Spanish manager to keep his job at the club.
