  • 2021 Biathlon World Championships is in Slovenia, 9-21 February
  • Top women biathletes will compete in 6 events
  • Tiril Eckhoff is the favorite in sprint and in relay with the Norwegian team
As we mentioned in our previous article, the 2021 Biathlon World Championships is approaching. It will take place between 9-21 February in Pokljuka, Slovenia. In the 2021 Women's Biathlon WC odds we can bet on the winners of special match-ups, winner of the women’s 4x7,5km relay race or even on the winning margin. Beside the sprint event where Norwegians are the top favorites.  Norway has a strong team in the women’s biathlon as well just like in the men’s. But here we can find a more diverse field with great Italian, German and French athletes as well. In the last world championships Norway got three gold medals, while Italy took the other two remaining gold.  The Scandinavian powerhouse can repeat its performance again thanks to its top athletes like Marte Olsbu Roiseland or Tiril Eckhoff. While Italian athletes have been struggling this season. Swedish Hanna Oeberg and French Julia Simon could also win some races in the world cup. So all of them can top this season’s performances with a medal from the world championships. Where the sprint event can be one of the most exciting races, let’s see the main favorites now.

2021 Women's Biathlon WC odds favor Eckhoff in the sprint race

Norwegian Tiril Eckhoff leads the overall sprint standing in the 2020-21 Biathlon World Cup but only 6 points ahead of her compatriot, Marte Olsbu Roiseland. The two Norwegians are the biggest favorites to win the 7,5km sprint race in the world championships as well. Eckhoff has already won the event in the 2016 World Championships. She has the odds of 4.50 to do it again by online sportsbooks in Norway. The experienced athlete has a great season after winning six races including three sprint ones. Though last year she only finished in 59th place, she can definitely do much better this time.

Meanwhile her main rival, Roiseland has the odds of 6.00 to defend her title.  The current world champion and Olympic silver medalist is also in good form but got her two wins in different disciplines this season. Thanks to her consistent performance she is still in second place in the overall sprint standing. But only two points ahead of Swedish Hanna Oeberg, who is also mentioned in the favorites in the 2021 Women's Biathlon WC odds. The 25-year-old athlete has been stronger in the longer distance but this season she also got two world cup wins in sprint. Now she can go for a better result in the world championships too.

Can Norway defend their relay title?

Probably you’ve already guessed that Norway is the favorite in the women’s 4x6km relay as well. Beside Eckhoff and Roiseland we can find two younger biathletes in the team which has only won one race in this year’s world cup season. But as the current world champions, online gambling sites in Norway predict their victory again with the odds of 3.00. The German and French team can be their biggest rivals. But the Swedish and Russian teams have also won a race each this year. Germany seems the strongest from them with Denise Hermann and Franziska Preuss in the team. If you’d like to bet on some other details than the winners of the race, you can also do that on 22Bet. For example you can guess the winning margin in the individual 15km race with under 15 seconds lead being the most likely option. Or bet on the winner of a special match-up in the mass start race. Where Hanna Oeberg is favored to outperform her younger sister, Elvira Oeberg with the odds of 1.20. But you can also bet on the winner of the medal table where not surprisingly Norway is the top favorite ahead of France and Germany.
