This will be the 63rd edition of the Women’s Champions League where the best European women’s volleyball clubs are competing against each other. Russian (and formerly Soviet) clubs of Dynamo Moscow and Uralochka Ekaterinburg won the most tiles. But they surely won’t win the title this season following the ban of Russian and Belarusian clubs. In their absence, Turkish and Italian clubs can fight for the title just like they did in the last eight years. Vakifbank Istanbul are the defending champions who got their fifth title last season. After the Turkish club defeated the 2020/21 champion, Imoco Volley Conegliano in the final. Both teams can go all the way again, let’s see their chances below.

Vakifbank Istanbul Leads the 2022/23 CEV Women’s Champions League Odds

Vakifbank Istanbul have become the most successful club in the new history of the tournament with its fifth Champions League title. They also won the Turkish championship and the Club World Championship last season. In the summer, Giovanni Guidetti’s team has become even stronger. Thanks to the signings of middle blocker Bahar Akbay, American outside hitter Kara Bajema and Dutch player Nika Daalderop. But the biggest news was the arrival of Italian Paola Egonu who has already won two Champions League titles with her previous clubs. After all these improvements, Vakifbank is the top favorite again. Online sportsbooks in Turkey offer an odds of 1.60 for their victory.

Imoco Conegliano were last year’s runners-up after they got to their second consecutive final. And they are mentioned among the top favorites again in the 2022/23 CEV Women’s Champions League odds. In spite of all the changes that happened at the club. One of their key players, Paola Egonu left the club. But the Italians signed another top talent, Swedish Isabelle Haak in her place. Alessia Genari and American Kelsey Robinson-Cook also joined the team. While other main players like setter Joanna Wolosz and libero Monica De Gennaro stayed on the roster.  Imoco started the new season in superb form and lead the domestic league with 10 wins out of 10 matches. Their odds to win the Champions League again are 3.50.

Other Italian and Turkish clubs that can fight for the title

Another Italian club, Igor Gorgonzola Novara also managed to win the Champions League in the 2018/19 season. It was their first and so far only title. But Stefano Lavarini’s team can try to win the tournament again. 8 new players have joined the club including former Conegliano player Anna Danesi, Cuban Kenya Carcaces, and American stars Jordyn Poulter and McKenzie Adams.  Their situation is not easy after they were drawn into Pool C along with Vakifbank, SC Potsdam, and Crvena Zvezda. Only the group winners and the best three second-placed teams can qualify for the knockout stage. But Novara should do that. While their odds to win the tournament are 8.00. on 22Bet.

Still staying in Italy, Vero Volley Milan (also known as Vero Monza) will make its second appearance in the strongest club competition. They reached the quarter-finals last season but lost there against Conegliano. The club has already won other tournaments, both the CEV Challenge and the CEV Cup. Their squad includes one of the best blockers, Italian Sonia Candi, while Serbian Jovana Stevanovic and American Jordan Larson also joined their roster. Marco Gaspari’s team plays in Pool B where they are favored to win the group. Their odds to win the whole tournament are also 8.00. Online gambling sites in Turkey mention two Turkish teams, Fenerbahce and Eczacibasi with odds of 15.00. Fenerbahce won the tournament once before, in 2012. And got to the semi-finals last season. With a similar performance, they can get an even better result this time.
