The last ranking event of the 2021/22 snooker season, the 2022 Snooker World Championship is held between the 16th of April and the 2nd of May in Sheffield. 128 players started the qualifying tournament but only 16 of them will join the top-seeded 16 players in the first round. Including the world No1, Ronnie O’Sullivan who has already won six world titles so far. The defending champion, Mark Selby, and the winners of the two previous majors this season, Zhao Xintong and Neil Robertson. We can also find other previous winners of the tournament like Judd Trump, Stuart Bingham, and Mark Williams. Along with the latest upcoming players such as Yan Bingtao and Luca Brecel. Let’s see who are the main favorites to win now.

Robertson Is Favored In the 2022 Snooker World Championship Predictions

Neil Robertson won the previous major tournament, the 2022 Masters this January. He also won the Players Championship and the Tour Championship since. So it’s no surprise that online sportsbooks in the UK favor him to win this event too. They offer the smallest odds, 5.00 for his victory. It would be his 24th ranking title and second win at the world championships after his first one in 2010. In the last three years, the Australian was knocked out in the quarter-finals but following his latest form, he can definitely go all the way this time.

The 2022 Snooker World Championship predictions also mention Judd Trump as another big favorite with the odds of 5.50. The world No4 won the Turkish Masters this year and was the runner-up at the Welsh Open. While he also reached the semi-final at the 2022 Masters. But Trump’s more recent form wasn’t that great after crashing out early in the previous two tournaments. The 32-year-old reached the final of the world championship in 2011 and got to the semis twice before finally winning it in 2019. Since then he hasn’t won any major titles but can do it now in Sheffield.

Can Sullivan Win His 7th Title?

Of course, we can’t miss mentioning the six-time world champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan from the favorites. He has competed in all world events since his debut in 1993. The Rocket currently leads the world ranking after winning the 2021 World Grand Prix and finishing as a runner-up in the 2022 European Masters. Online gambling sites in the UK offer the odds of 6.00 for his seventh victory.

One of the main questions is his attitude which can decide his performance. If Sullivan is focused, he can easily get to the semi-final and meet his old rival, Robertson there. But last season he only reached the second round after his defeat against Anthony McGill.

The defending champion of the tournament, Mark Selby can also go a long way. Even though he hasn’t won any ranking title since his victory at the Crucible Theatre. His best result has been a semi-final at the 2021 World Grand Prix last December. There he was beaten by Robertson. Now the world No 2 can try to get back to his winning form with the odds of 8.50 to do so. Another former winner, John Higgins has been in great form this season. He won the Championship League and was the runner-up in four more tournaments. Now the four-time world champion has the odds of 11.00 on bet365 to win again.
