With fifteen permanent riders and the absence of the defending champion, Artem Laguta it promised to be one of the most exciting seasons of the sport. The 2022 Speedway Grand Prix will have twelve events in the season starting in Croatia next weekend and ending in Oceania in November. The top six riders of last year’s championship automatically qualified for the new season. Along with three riders from the Grand Prix Challenge and the winner of the 2021 Speedway European Championship. While the remaining five contesters have been nominated by the series’ new sponsor, Discovery Sports Events. These 15 riders will compete in each race besides one wild card and two-track reserves. We can’t find in this year’s drivers’ list the defending champion, Artem Lagute, and his compatriot, Emil Sayfutdinov following the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian riders. In their absence, last year’s runner-up, Bartosz Zmarzlik seems like the biggest favorite.

2022 Speedway Grand Prix Predictions Favor Two-time Champion

Bartosz Zmarzlik has already won the Speedway Championship twice before, in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. While he finished as a runner-up last year, only three points behind the winner. Now online sportsbooks in Poland favor the 27-year-old rider to win the title again and offer the odds of 2.00 for his victory.

Zmarzlik won five events last season and finished second three more times. It seems like the Polish rider is already in great form after winning the PGE Ekstraliga Individual title in Torun last month. It was his third title in the top Polish speedway league. Which he hopes to follow with another Grand Prix title at the end of the year.

One of his main rivals can be the 2018 Individual European champion, Leon Madsen who has the odds of 9.00 in the 2022 Speedway Grand Prix predictions. The Danish rider was only 7th last year. But he was suffering from a knee injury for a long time during the season. He also had issues with his equipment and had to switch it back to an older version. Madsen was the runner-up in the 2019 season, finishing only two points behind Zmarzlik. As he is back to 100%, the two of them can fight again for the title. At least that’s what Danish fans are hoping for. And to claim the first Grand Prix title since the last victory of Nicki Pedersen in 2008.

Woffinden and Janowksi Can Also Fight For The Title

Tai Woffinden has won the championship three times so far, in 2013, 2015, and 2018. While he also finished as the runner-up in 2016. The British were only sixth in last year’s overall standings with two podium finishes. But he became the team world champion as a member of the British team.

The 31-year-old is also racing in the Polish Ekstraliga for WTS Sparta Wroclaw who is the defending champions. With Woffinden playing a big part in the club’s success. He will aim for more success in the new season with the odds of 11.00 to win the Grand Prix title again.

Online gambling sites in Poland offer the same odds for the victory of another Polish rider, Maciej Janowski. The 30-year-old finished fifth in last year’s championship with one win and four podium finishes. Janowski has already finished fourth in the overall standings four times in his career, so surely he would love to move up now to the podium. After winning the league titles with his clubs in Wroclaw and Swedish Dackarna, it can be finally his year now. While last year’s fourth-place finisher, Swedish Fredrik Lindgren can also aim for an even better result. His odds to win his first grand Prix title are 17.00 on 22Bet.
