Below, we’ll check out the main favorites for the Best Motion Picture – Drama category. We can find the latest productions of such top directors as Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and Baz Luhrmann in the nominees. Let’s see their chances of winning the first major film award of the year.

2023 Golden Globe Best Drama Odds Favor Spielberg’s Latest Film

The Fabelmans is the top favorite of online sportsbooks in Canada to win the Best Drama category at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. The film was directed by 3-time Oscar winner Steven Spielberg, whose life inspired it. The semi-autobiographical story tells the life of a young filmmaker, and his family, making a tribute to Spielberg’s real parents.

The Fabelmans received critical acclaim and it has already won several awards. Including the People’s Choice Award at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. It also received five nominations in the 2023 Golden Globe Awards and has an odds of 1.57 to win the Best Drama category.

Surprisingly the next film that is mentioned in the 2023 Golden Globe Best Drama odds is the sequel of the 80s blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick. The film was loved by the fans. And even praised by critics who called it better than the first film. It became the highest-grossing film of 2022 with $1,488 billion. And also the highest-grossing film in Tom Cruise’s career.

The actor stars in the film again but we can also find Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer in the cast. It was voted in the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute Awards. And has an odds of 4.00 to win the Golden Globe.

Elvis and Avatar are also Among the Nominees

One of the highly praised films of the year has been Tar. A psychological drama about a musical composer-conductor and the ups and downs in her personal and professional life. Cate Blanchett plays the main character magnificently and has received a nomination for the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama category as well.

While the writer and director of the film, Todd Field also received acclaim from the critics. The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and won the New York Film Critics Circle award. Online gambling sites in Canada offer an odds of 5.50 for its victory at the Golden Globe.

We can find two big productions in the remaining nominees, Elvis and Avatar 2. Baz Luhrmann’s musical about the “King of Rock and Roll” star Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Just like The Fabelmans, the film received five Golden Globe nominations. But it might have a bigger chance of winning in other categories.

In spite of its good review. And becoming the second highest-grossing music biopic behind Bohemian Rhapsody after grossing $286 million. Avatar: The Way of Water, the sequel to the first film can earn even more in cinemas. But it also costs much more with a budget of $350-400 million. James Cameron’s world is still breathtaking, but it’s likely to win more awards in technical categories. Both films have an odds of 10.00 on 22Bet to get the Best Drama award.
