In this article, I am going to introduce you to the Canadian poker pros you might meet at online poker sites in the US. Because these guys have won millions if not billions of dollars playing poker. However, reaching their level takes a special kind of dedication. This is why they are professional full-timers. Therefore, they treat poker as a job. In conclusion, poker night with the boys is lightyears away from these guys. However, the online play became a core part of the poker community. This means that it’s extremely hard to get into prestigious tournaments such as the WSOP without playing online. Planning to take over the poker world by becoming a full-timer? This article will show the Canadian pros you have to study if you are planning to play with them.

1. Daniel Negreanu – Canadian Poker Pros

If you are a returning reader, then you probably remember this name. If not from our other article about the funniest poker players, then from the WSOP broadcasts. Daniel Negreanu is the most successful poker player in the Canadian pro poker player scene. He always explains his mind as he plays, and you can learn how to think like a pro while listening to him. Because he explains the focus of his thought in retrospect. Recently, he is caught up in a storm of accusations. According to the High Stakes Database, he is accusing Ali Imsirovic of cheating. However, this is not the first nor the last time someone is pointing at Ali. Which further strengthens the suspicions against him. Start playing today by making your first account on Everygame Poker.

2. Sam Greenwood – Not The Football Player

I know, you thought about the athlete for a moment. But no, Sam Greenwood is not the same guy. This person is one of the Canadian poker pros who started his career in 2006. Just like you, he played online. Because one of the many requirements for the WSOP is to win the online circuit before you’d get an offline seat. This only makes sense with the increasing number of people who are interested in online poker. Keep in mind that Sam Greenwood is not just another pro player. According to the Poker Database, he is the second most successful Canadian in the pro poker scene. He climbed to the map of stars with the 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure where he won a significant amount of cash.

3. Timothy Adams – Canadian Poker Pros

While the database says otherwise, Timothy Adams is recorded as the second biggest Canadian player behind Negreanu. Therefore, he is another pro player with an incredible amount of cash. Cash is not always the measurement for success. Because Timothy Adams is behind Sam Greenwood. Yet, he is among the biggest tournament winners. This means he played with the top 7 poker players from Europe at some point in his career. The total wealth he has amassed from playing poker exceeds $24,300,000. However, he only owns one WSOP bracelet. Other prestigious tournament titles such as FullTiltPoker and PokerStars have contributed almost $2,000,000 to his poker portfolio.

4. Daniel Dvoress

Daniel Dvoress is not originally from Canada. He was born in the Soviet Union. He and his family emigrated to Canada when he was only 8. And merely ten years later he was already on the path to becoming one of the Canadian poker pros. Playing poker in High School he has been a PokerStars user ever since 2006. Spending nearly 20 years in the scene now, Dvoress deserves to be a core part of this community. This means that he owns 1 WSOP bracelet, and he has 2 money finishes. Furthermore, he has participated in the European Poker Tour several times. He has earned money finish a total of 7 times. He was everything from a coach to a tournament winner. And he is not planning on quitting anytime soon.

5. Michael Watson – Canadian Poker Pros

Now that we have listed some of the best players. It’s time to talk about Michael Watson. Michael Watson or better known as Mike Watson was one of the most successful players. Yet we have had no information about him recently. Because he has 63 money finishes yet no bracelets. We could say that Mike was a player who decided to become rich instead of becoming famous. The information available is not enough to fully tell what he is up to right now. Perhaps, the main reason behind this is that he didn’t care for marketing. We know that Chris Moneymaker is iconic. But can we remember Michael Watson? He is not the first person to come to my mind when the name is mentioned.

6. Jonathan Duhamel

It’s been two years since Jonathan Duhamel’s account has been active on Twitter. This means that he either left the professional scene, or something has happened to him. We are truly unsure. However, he comes from the best times when the rappers who play poker made songs about this semi-gambling activity. Therefore, his last Twitter post reminiscences about the good old times with a shared video. What makes Duhamel famous is not only his incredible achievement and his WSOP bracelet. Because he has been involved with both sides of the law. First, he didn’t know that he should pay taxes after his Poker winnings. Because the government considered his winnings as a constant income due to the frequency of his professional career. On the other hand, Jonathan was robbed and his WSOP bracelet, watch and some of his cash were stolen.

7. Mike McDonald

One of the main attributes of Canadian poker pros is that they all started early. This is especially true for Mike McDonald who is still the youngest player to ever win an event on the European Poker Tour. He was only 18 years old when he won his first poker tournament. And to this day, he is still a legend on the international scene. According to Twitter, nowadays he spends his time reposting memes for the financial and poker community.
