The cases of fake chips used at the Maryland Live! Casino in the USA are getting more and more in the last couple of months.

The gambling news recently reported the case of a Northern Virginia couple, who was part of a fake chips scheme.

The scenario with Ngan S. Nguyen and his girlfriend, Dung N. Vo is pretty similar. They are from Herndon in Fairfax County and were each charged with one count of felony theft, one count of conspiracy to commit felony theft and two other felony-theft-related counts.

The case

The investigators managed to figure out the scheme with the help of surveillance footage, as well as driver’s license information. The crime was committed in the state’s largest casino, which operates under US gambling laws.

The defendants are suspected of remodeling significant amount of white $1 chips from the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia to make them look like the black $100 chips from Maryland Live!

When the couple arrived at the casino, Vo played several games and then exchanged at the cashier’s desk two black chips and numerous green ones for $625.

The couple left Maryland Live! shortly after their arrival, leaving behind at least 10 fake $100 chips, which were “easily identified as counterfeit.”

The investigators commented that there is high chance that the cheating couple also used fake chips at the Charles Town casino.
