  • Australian Coach Langer May Take Over England

You can always bet on Test cricket to look a tad incestuous. However many people will raise their eyebrows at news the front runner to take over the England side is an Australian. Even more so when they learn it’s Justin Langer, a coach arriving with a fair amount of baggage. Still, after that disastrous Ashes England needed to do something. They tour the West Indies soon. Online sportsbook sites in the UK will give you great odds on England winning. But will they really?

Giles went first, then Silverwood, then Thorpe. Like a slow motion massacre England have bet on Test cricket needing something new. Many fans will mutter that this is not before time. They saw the warning signs ages ago. They had heard all the rumors of tactical ineptitude and poor leadership. After all the allegations within the sport some feel that at least a couple of those now out on the street should have gone earlier. That sadly probably includes one of the cull survivors.

Joe Root will remain Captain despite having spent that long in cricket and never noticed any racism. Surprising he can see the ball, isn’t it? Still they can’t really get rid of Joe Root. He’s the only player able of actually playing at the moment. As anyone who regularly puts a bet on Test cricket will tell you, England are dire at present. Australia spanked them in the Ashes. Worse, despite those odds at online betting sites in the UK like Bet365, the West Indies might do it too.

England Behead Themselves In Effort To Change Fortunes

Okay, so the West Indies are currently getting slapped about by India, but England aren’t India. The T20 tour demonstrated that. England lost that 3-2, and saw their T20 odds slide fast. So if you’re going to bet on Test cricket in the near future a bet on England might not prove wise. Unlike a bet on the West Indies which is merely optimistic. England may have made some changes but those will take time to bed in. At present they even lack a head coach to take charge.

  • England – 2/11

Coincidentally Australia’s coach, Justin Langer, has just resigned. He told Cricket Australia it was “in everyone’s best interests” and even apologized for being too intense. Yes, he did complain a little that he only found out the players lacked confidence in him via the press. But that’s fair enough. It is a little rum. As some who bet on sports in the UK might consider England putting a bet on Test cricket needing Langer’s intensity. Still, what options do England have?

Bet365 Has All You Need To Bet On Test Cricket

They’ve ditched their Managing Director, Ashley Giles, Head Coach Chris Silverwood and his assistant Graham Thorpe. So England’s bet on Test cricket needing new faces seems to involve beheading itself. Andrew Strauss has taken over for Giles now has to scramble to get England into some sort of shape before the West Indies tour. It’s a challenge in the little time still available. So, if he does turn to the newly available Langer no one should be very surprised.

“The only way we can look at it is to get through the West Indies tour.”

  • Andrew Strauss – Managing Director, England

Hiring Collingwood isn’t the end of their problems. So if you’re going to take advantage of UK gambling laws to bet on Test cricket, give England a miss. Online bookies might offer up far longer odds on the West Indies, but this is their best chance. They bested England at T20, why wouldn’t they now do the same to a vulnerably new Test side? One thing’s for sure, this Test series, in a year where T20 is at the fore of fan’s mind, has suddenly got very interesting indeed.
