The end of the alpine ski season is getting close with only two racing weekends left in the calendar. Top women slalom skiers will compete this weekend in Are, Sweden where the next two races are held. Winning any of them can be a huge advantage for the leaders in the overall standing. Like Petra Vhlova and Mikaela Shiffrin who are also the biggest favorites in the FIS World Cup Are Slalom odds.  After the 2021 FIS World Championships in Italy, Petra Vhlova could have felt a little disappointment as she only won two silver medals in the event. She was dominating the World Cup in the beginning of this season and  leading the overall standing. But Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami has taken the lead now thanks to her great recent results.  The gap is only 36 points between them though so a victory this weekend can be crucial for the Slovakian. While it can also strengthen her lead in the slalom world cup ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin and Austrian Katharina Liensberger. They will all compete in Are, Sweden this weekend starting with a night slalom race on Friday.

Mikaela Shiffrin won the last slalom race in Slovakia, the home country of Vhlova and moved closer to her in the slalom overall standing. The American top athlete hasn’t been in her best form this season but still managed to win three races. In the World Championship in Italy she performed even better. As she won flour medals including a gold in alpine combined. Now online sportsbooks in Sweden offer the smallest odds, 2.50 for her victory in Are too. But Shiffrin faces tough competition from other favorites, like Vhlova who currently leads the slalom world cup 45 points ahead of her. The Slovakian skier had a strong start of the season after winning three in the first four races. She got another victory in Zagreb and most recently in Jasna, where she won the giant slalom race. Slalom is Vhlova’s strongest discipline. While a victory this weekend can be crucial for her final place in the overall standing too. No wonder that her odds to win on Friday is 3.00 in the FIS World Cup Are Slalom odds.

Liensberger and Swiss skiers can also win in Sweden

Katharina Liensberger is currently in third place in the slalom world cup, 70 points behind Vhlova. The young Austrian won the gold in slalom in the 2021 World Championships ahead of the two big favorites. Which can surely motivate her for even better results at the World Cup. She hasn’t got any win yet but was close to it a few times. Now online gambling sites in Sweden offer the odds of 3.74 for her first victory.  We also have to mention two Swiss athletes, Michelle Gisin and Wendy Holdener in the favorites. They are standing in 4th and 5th place in the world cup, with very little chance to win the title. But any of them can still get a win. As Gisin has already done it in Semmering last December. She also finished on the podium in Zagreb but since then she hasn’t been in top form. Unlike Holdener who just missed out on the medal in the world championships. She also finished third in the last two slalom world cup races. Now their odds to finish on top are 17.00 and 9.00 on 22Bet.
