Friday The 13th Doesn’t Have To Be Unlucky For Your Bank Roll

The calendar presents us with another Friday the 13th this year and whilst you might think it wise to avoid gambling on the day, the fact is you can just as easily wager on the misfortune of sporting participants as you can on their success and sites like Bet365 mean you don’t have to leave the safety of home to do so.

Is Friday The 13th Unlucky?

• An invention of;
• Middle Ages superstition
• 19th century romanticism
• 20th century revisionism

A lot of people consider Friday the 13th to be unlucky. Although many put this superstition down to twaddle from the middle ages egged on by the spooky but romantic notions of the 19th century, and the oft quoted connection with Philip IV of France arresting numerous Knights Templar on that date, seems likely to be a 20th century association no one else had made because there really wasn’t one. Of course in these more enlightened times no one believes a word of it. Except all those millions of us who do.

In the US there are around 20 million people who live in fear of Friday the 13th and as a result they tend to hunker down to avoid all risks like road accidents. Of course with them all staying home the Dutch proved statistically there are fewer accidents and Friday the 13th is one of the safer days of the year, however such is the cultural connection so many people feel this date has with their luck or good fortune people who bet on sports in the UK may consider abstaining on the day, but they shouldn’t.

Friday The 13th Unlucky For Some Lucky For Others

Some Friday The 13th Odds

• Cricket ODI
• Australia 1/7 – 9/2 Pakistan
• Rugby Union
• Bath 2/7 – 11/4 Bristol
• Premier League
• Leeds 13/8 – 21/10 Derby

Now whilst Friday the 13th might have you barring the door and planning to stay home where the fewest risks appear to present themselves, and that may prevent you going to the bookies on the high street, Bet365 comes to you via the interweb so you need go nowhere at all. Even better it presents you with numerous opportunities to bet against things occurring, so you can leverage your superstitious suspicion that Friday the 13th is somehow unlucky to improve your gambling bank roll.

Take Leeds Utd vs Derby County in the English Premier League this evening. It’ll be a great game and in the normal course of things you’d expect Leeds to win through, however, even with Leeds getting 13/8 at Bet365, and Derby only garnering 21/10 perhaps Friday the 13th will be unlucky for Leeds, and the underdogs will beat them, so if you’re going to take advantage of UK gambling laws today to place a wager despite the date perhaps that’s the attitude to have. Likewise you can apply it to the Cricket too.

Wager On Sporting Misfortunes At Bet365

Australia take on Pakistan in a One Day International today, Australia are 1/7 at Bet365 to win, so perhaps given it’s Friday the 13th you should back Pakistan at 9/2 instead. Indeed so great is the misfortune that might befall people on this lamentable date that even Free Zone (2/1) or Illegally Blonde (5/2) won’t run away with the 2 O’clock at Lingfield and give people a reason to bet on Yeeoow at 4/1 on Bet365, or Flexible Flyer at 9/1 if an each way bet on Monumental Man at 8/1 doesn’t appeal.

In Rugby Union Friday the 13th sees a European Rugby Challenge Cup match in Pool 4 that lines up the massive local rivals of Bath and Bristol with the former favored at Bet365 on 2/7 and Bristol on 11/4 which is quite attractive, but since it IS Friday the 13th why not bet both teams will be unfortunate and bet on a draw at 20/1? Friday the 13th might be a ridiculous relic from a time of fanciful stupidity but don’t bet against UK gambling news headlines being of some shocking upsets come Saturday morning.
