Back in 2016, Griezmann shily commented he wanted to be relied on as a player who is on the same level with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Two years later, the French player became much more confident and has put himself on the same level as the two best players of the past decade. Online sportsbook news sites in Spain couldn’t stop talking about that sympathetic striker from Atletico Madrid, who said he was hoping to become one of the best football players in the upcoming years. However, as Antoine Griezmann grow older, apparently he lost his shyness and grew quite a lot of confidence.

Griezmann’s confidence makes sense…

It’s obvious that he got more confident as years passed by. He became more and more important member of Atletico Madrid as well as the French national team. As of today, he is one of the most popular and famous football players. Millions adore him for his weird celebrations and popular marketing moves like his movie – La Decision.

Griezmann is one of the best football players in the world…

Griezmann has been top scorer at Atletico Madrid. He has won several trophies with the Spanish club, including La Liga and Europa League. In addition, he has a silver medal from Euro 2016 as well as a golden medal from 2018 FIFA World Cup. Both Messi and Ronaldo lack the last one, but does that mean that these three players deserve to be put on the same shelf? In a way, maybe. I’m sure we can all agree on one thing: Antoine Griezmann is one of the best football players today. So are Messi and Ronaldo. So is Hazard and so are many other football players. In this sense, Griezmann has reached their level. But that doesn’t mean that the two legends haven’t moved on from that level…

…but Ronaldo and Messi are among the best of all time...

It would be degrading for both Ronaldo’s and Messi’s achievements to talk about them the same way we talk about Antoine Griezmann. Fair enough, nor Ronaldo nor Messi have won the World Cup, while Griezmann did. However, these three are just not a match to each other. If we look at goals, assists, records, trophies… Griezmann is nowhere near. And there is no shame in that. Griezmann is one of the best footballers in the world in 2018. That’s something to be proud of. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the best football players who ever lived. They are living legends. It’s just unfair to compare yourself to them, no matter who you are – but especially if you are Antoine Griezmann.

Sergio Ramos can’t take Griezmann seriously…

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos gave an interview to UEFA shortly before their game against AS Roma – to which, Real Madrid will be clear favourites according to all odds at online sportsbook sites in Spain. Ramos was asked if he agrees with Griezmann: is the French striker ‘now eating at the same table together with Messi and Ronaldo?’
Sergio Ramos Spain v Russia 2017
"Boy, are you for real?"
Spain and Real Madrid captain Ramos answered shortly: “Ignorance is bold.” And then he continued talking about former football legends like Casillas, Raúl, Xavi, Totti, Iniesta… Amazing players, who never won the Ballon d’Or, but never complained about it. Unlike Griezmann.

Fight between Ramos and Griezmann?

It would be naïve to think that the reporters asked Ramos about Griezmann out of nowhere. The Ramos v Griezmann duel started a while ago: after Atletico won the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid, Griezmann posted a photo of himself taking the crown from Sergio Ramos and Real Madrid. It could have been interpreted as a funny tease, but the story becomes funnier if we think about the two Champions League finals between the two Madrid teams: Sergio Ramos took the main role in both, while Griezmann played only one and was rather invisible.
