The 2021 Finish municipal elections are scheduled to take place on 18 April. The most important municipal race in the country is the one to determine the next mayor of the capital. It is only the second time in history for this race to take place as the Helsinki mayor position was created in 2017. Before that, it was the position of City Manager but it no longer exists.

The first and only mayor of Helsinki is Jan Vapaavuori of the NCP, who decided to leave politics. A new NCP candidate Kirsi Piha is running for mayor. Her Helsinki mayoral election odds are good. Anni Sinnemaki of the Green Party is also running and has a strong chance according to online sportsbook news in Finland. But, the one seemingly confident he will win is the Finns Party leader Jussi Halla-Aho.

Halla-Aho is extremely popular in Helsinki

Jussi Halla-Aho has served as a member of the parliament from 2011 to 2014 and again from 2019. He took charge of the Finns Party in 2017. His party has been performing very well in the last decade and now it is the second-largest party in the parliament. The Finns Party did not do well in previous local elections in Helsinki. But now with Halla-Aho’s leadership, it is expected to win more municipal seats than ever.

Halla-Aho is very popular in Helsinki. He broke the record for most personal votes in the Helsinki constituency during the 2019 parliamentary election. Thus, most online sportsbooks in Finland such as 22BET Sportsbook suggest Halla-Aho will likely win with 1.1 odds.

Helsinki mayoral election odds
Can’t wait to see the outcome

Piha looking forward to replacing her colleague Vapaavuori

NCP’s former MP Kirsi Piha hopes to replace party colleague Jan Vapaavuori as mayor of the capital. She has been a member of the Helsinki city council during the 1990s. However, Pahi is currently working as a management consultant and entrepreneur in the communications sector. Very recently Yle reported that Pahi has been highly interested to run in the Helsinki mayoral race.

Pahi has also declared her campaign to focus on three key areas. These areas are about a good life for the residents of the capital. They are also about a better role for the capital in Finland and the world and the improvement of the management of the city. Should the campaign be widely popular among the voters, Piha will have a chance with 6 odds to win.

Sinnemaki of the Green Party is another strong challenger

The current Deputy Mayor and the member of the Green Party Anni Sinnemaki is another strong candidate. Her Helsinki mayoral election odds stand at 10 to win. Sinnemaki is a prominent figure in the Green Party. She was an MP from 1999 to 2015. Besides, she briefly served as chair of the party as well as Minister of Labour during her time in Parliament. Thus, she certainly has a strong base in the capital.

There is also Nasima Razmayar of the SDP and Harry Harkimo of Movement Now among other candidates. Razmayar has 10 odds while Harkimo has 25. If you wish to see all the other best odds on Finnish municipal elections, check out the review about 22BET Sportsbook.
