Hong Kong Cup Betting Heats Up Ahead Of The Big Race

The Hong Kong Cup, premier flat race in this former British colony, always attracts a massive visiting crowd from China and with an impressive field this year’s race is set to be a classic worthy of a little flutter. But just which of these excellent runners should you be backing? We take a look at the favorites in the field for all those of you who like to bet on sports in Hong Kong and present the best Hong Kong Cup betting odds you’ll find online at sites like BetVictor.

  • Is Werther worthy of the 2/1 favorite status it’s enjoying at the moment?
  • Will Pakistan Star beat those 9/1 odds its getting and win this prestigious race?
  • Can Beach Patrol overcome that 12/1 chance it’s given to win on the day?
  • Do the 5/1 odds on Time Warp make it the best wager on the Hong Kong Cup this year?
  • One of the better legacies from the 1980s, the Hong Kong Cup is a Group 1 flat race for thoroughbreds three years and older over a terribly metric 2,000m (which is near enough 1¼ miles) at the Sha Tin racetrack, one of the two in the small city state. Sha Tin is larger than its neighbor and will be hosting the Hong Kong Cup betting on another thronging crowd arriving to watch this prestigious race won three times by Frankie Dettori and which last year saw the Japanese ride Maurice take the win.

This year’s race will pit some of the best horses in the southern hemisphere against each other in what is likely to be quite a close run thing, and whilst there’s a clear favorite at the moment those online bookies like BetVictor will almost certainly be tightening things up as we get nearer the big day so now is the time to take advantage of Hong Kong gambling laws and those longer odds to put a wager on this massively exciting race. The question is just which of these great horses should you be backing?

Should We Do The Time Warp In Hong Kong Again?

    Hong Kong Cup Betting Favorites

    Beach Patrol – 12/1
    Sacred Elixir – 12/1
    Robin Of Navan – 12/1
    Folkswood – 10/1
    Pakistan Star – 9/1
    Nassa – 7/1
    Poets Word – 7/1
    Time Warp – 5/1
    Neorealism – 9/2
    Gold Mount – 9/2
    Werther – 2/1

Well on the edges of sanity there’s Prawn Baba, Circuit Hassler and Bullish Glory all getting 100/1 in the Hong Kong betting odds, with Dinozzo and Doyeni faring little better at 50/1 the piece, whilst Tom Melbourne looks to have slightly better chance at 33/1 but still can’t match Circuit Glory at 25/1 on sites like BetVictor nor Straphanos at 20/1. Naturally it’ll be quite the race if any of these comes home a winner, and indeed even a place bet on these steeds is pushing the boundaries of optimism a little.

Whether you believe the 18/1 shot Tosen Stardom is worth it might depend on if you think it’ll run at all, and Smart Call, Secret Weapon and Blonde me might well all garner a rather interesting looking 14/1 there’s enough of a field ahead to make it somewhat moot. Far better then are the 12/1 Hong Kong Cup betting odds you can get on Beach Patrol, Sacred Elixir and Robin of Navan, although Folkswood pips them all at 10/1 and will make Hong Kong gambling news headlines if it wins on the day.

Do All Your Hong Kong Cup Betting At BetVictor

Pakistan Star hasn’t won since last December and only managed 5th in the Premier Plate, after a string of promising second places in the Hong Kong Classic Cup, Hong Kong Derby and Audemars Piguet QE II. This means you can get tasty 9/1 Hong Kong Cup betting odds on this horse yet to show all it’s class, and 7/1 on the little known Nassa, the very same as on Poets Word, the former winning the Ladies Purse and the latter the Glorious Stakes and both behind 5/1 shot Time Warp who is well worth a punt.

Time Warp came second over this distance in the Jockey Club Cup, but the horse which won that day, Werther, is also running in the Hong Kong Cup betting it can do the same again, even if Neorealism and Gold Mount get 9/2 and are closer on its hooves. Werther gets 2/1 to win the Hong Kong Cup, but Gold Mount is good over a mile and Neorealism got the win in this year’s Audemars Piguet QE II so who can say? The smart bets will be on Werther but that 5/1 on Time Warp is just too tempting.
