This week, Michael Tureniec from Sweden was crowned, the king of Danish poker of the European Poker Tour, after winning the Championship Event in Copenhagen.

The very reserved Mr. Tureniec commented that – “Well I was so happy securing a lot of cash after a four-way deal in London that I lost the adrenaline that had kept me going, so I slipped, which I regret a lot even though I was very happy for the big win and second of course. I worked a lot on my game and think the win was more skill dependent in Copenhagen, whereas it was more luck dependent in London.“

To prepare for the event Mr. Tureniec spent 20 hours each day playing poker, discussing different hands and strategies with friends as well as watching his friends play and analyzing moves. After he was declared European Poker Tour Champion, he went to Lund in Sweden where a lot of his friends live, and had a nice party at a night club. Due to exhaustion he decided to play online poker in Sweden before heading back on the poker tour.

Fear of tough Swedish gambling laws prevent the champ from talking too much about his wins at cash poker games. Mr. Tureniec plans to take some vacation though since he says he’s been ‘playing a bit too much lately.’

He normally plays online poker for mostly 25-50 and 50-100, tournaments — from 150 and above. He stated that – “I haven’t played much online lately but maybe 1-2 times a week.”
