Spanish operator Codere online launched this month, offering online poker, casino and sports betting services under Tu Victoria umbrella brand.

After a long, hot summer, we hear almost daily new stories in the Spanish gambling news. A new Spanish online casino has just opened its virtual doors. Codere online started operating this month, offering poker, casino and sports betting services under Tu Victoria umbrella brand.

The site’s operator, Spanish gambling group giant Codere was a bit late launching its new site. The country liberalized Spanish gambling laws earlier this year, with at least 15 operators receiving a licenses in the first round. The .es domain has seen several new online gambling sites popping up since the new laws were imposed.

The new site is powered by GTechG2. Codere online will take its place on the provider's Spanish online poker network along other already established brands such as Poker Heaven, Vive Poker and MiApuesta. The operator hopes to profit from player liquidity.

Spain has had several economic problems in the recent years and is still facing high unemployment rates. However, there is a segment of the population that has interest and disposable income to play in a Spanish internet casino.

The government’s recent liberalization ignited the growth in the Spanish market. Some industry players still seem to complain about the lack of speed the regulators posses. They also fear that the government might try to impose more taxes on the lucrative Spanish online gambling market, making operation not profitable.

Licensing for the online casino is via the national regulator Direccion General de Ordenacion del Juego. According to the Spanish gambling laws, the central state agency is solely responsible for the issue of new online gambling licenses as well as the continuous revisions of existing ones.

With Codere being late in the pack, there are questions whether it will be able to face challenge the presence of other already established player can mean for the Spanish company.
