Opta to Run Perform’s Global Sports Media Feeds

Digital sports media company the Perform Group announces its Global Sports Media feeds will be provided by Opta.

Opta has offices all over Europe and is known for collecting, packaging, analyzing and distributing sports data to a number of sportsbooks, betting, media and professional sports sectors.

Perform Media currently operates real-time sports information, and announced that its Watch&Bet live streaming service targeted at land-based and online sportsbooks in the UK and abroad was likely to see revenue growth in 2014.

Opta was acquired by Perform in the summer of 2013, and since Perform commented that itsGSM services would be advertised as “Core Data feed” offering basic match data.

For a more detailed look into the statistics will be given via the “Classic Data feeds”, whereas detailed live data with Opta’s premium widgets will be available in the “Performance Data feeds”.

Perform’s Ian Campbell, thinks that this “integration ensures we take the best of GSM and combine it with Opta’s powerful brand and innovative data approach to provide customers with the total sports data solution that is suited to their individual requirements.”

“This is an exciting evolution in Opta’s data offering,” commented Opta’s managing director Aidan Cooney.

Sports betting is huge in Britain, thanks to the relaxed UK gambling laws making it easy for the UK market to expand into new arenas and technologies. The GSM feed will to offer bookmakers data that is unrivaled in the current market.
