…or maybe sometimes they do. However, the Oscar betting odds predicted the correct result in the most important parts of the Oscar Gala.

The Annual Academy Awards were given today early in the morning in Central European Time. There weren’t many major surprises: Mad Max won the most important prizes for the technical part, while Ennio Morricone, legend of music composers, has won his very first Oscar prize at the age of 87. Good morning Academy, it was freaking time for it!

Leonardo Di Caprio was nominated for the Oscar prize in the category of the Best Actor in a Leading Role for the 6th time. This time, even online betting sites in the US believed that the actor was going to receive the prize: Oscar betting odds were at 1.03 (3/100) for his victory.

Inarritu, best director twice in a row

Mexican movie director Alejandro González Inarritu has won the Oscar for Best Achievement in Directing again. He won it last year for Birdman, and he won it again for directing The Revenant. Inarritu is the third director in the history of the Academy to defend his Oscar prize. Before him, only Joseph L. Mankiewicz (for A Letter to Three Wives and All About Eve) and John Ford (for The Grapes of Wrath and How Green Was Mr. Valley) managed to do this, back in 1949 – 1950 and 1940-1941 respectively.

Mad Max was the best movie – in technical aspects

Mad Max was not really regarded as the main candidate in the category of Directing;however, it was in Cinematography, Movie Editing as well as many other aspects which needed technical abilities. No wonder: it was a perfectly created film full of beautiful pictures. Everything that a visitor would ever want to see in a cinema. It was not enough to triumph in the main categories, yet Mad Max: The Fury Road was successful at the Oscar Gala: they won 6 prizes in the following categories: Best Costume Design, Film Editing, Best Make-up and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

Spotlight was the best movie of 2015

The Spotlight was named as the best movie of the past year by the Academy. Without a question, it is one of the best movies ever made about journalism, and its brand new approach to screenplay won another Oscar to the movie: The most original screenplay in writing.
