  • 2022 Tour de Suisse is held between the 12th and 19th of June
  • It is the last stage race ahead of this year’s Tour de France
  • Aleksandr Vlasov and Remco Evenepoel are the main favorites this year
The 85th edition of the Swiss cycling stage is held between the 12th and 19th of June in the tough terrain of the Alps. Offering the last opportunity to race ahead of this year’s Tour de France, we can find several top GC contenders in the race. From Aleksandr Vlasov to Remco Evenepoel who are mentioned as main favorites in the 2022 Tour de Suisse predictions. But the Ineos team will have a few great riders to compete with them. Even without last year’s overall winner, Richard Carapaz.  The first Tour de Suisse was held in 1933, making this race one of the oldest and most prestigious events. Among the previous winners, we can find Miguel Angel Lopez, Egan Bernal, and Richie Porte. While Richard Carapaz is the defending champion. He won’t race this time following his podium finish at the 2022 Giro d’Italia. Unlike another former winner, Portuguese Rui Costa who has won the event three times before. This year, the race includes five hilly stages along with two mountain ones. And the last stage will be an individual time trial hosted in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. So we can expect great climbers and time trialists from the big teams to fight for the overall title.

2022 Tour de Suisse Predictions Mention Vlasov and Evenepoel as Possible Winners

Aleksandr Vlasov won this year’s Tour de Romandie at the end of April, so he must have good memories of Switzerland. The Bora rider also finished third in the Tour of the Basque Country and on the La Fleche Wallone. He will lead his team now and is favored to get the victory by online sportsbooks in Switzerland. They offer the odds of 2.50 for his win. The 26-year-old Russian will be accompanied by Sergio Higuita who also helped him in the Tour of Romandie. And might go for the victory himself if Vlasov has any issues during the week.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8DuOy3jJg8 One of their biggest rivals can be the Belgian youngster, Remco Evenepoel. He follows Vlasov in the 2022 Tour de Suisse predictions with the odds of 3.25. The Quick-Step cyclist has already won this year’s Tour of Norway and Volta ao Algarve. Besides winning the 2022 Liege-Bastogne-Liege one-day classics. He was fourth in the Tour of the Basque Country just behind Vlasov. High mountains seem to be his weakest point which might explain his absence from the 2022 Tour de France. Still, based on his form this season, Evenepoel can get another good result this week.

Favorites From The Ineos Team and Chances of Other GC Riders

Cycling fans are probably used to seeing super-strong line-ups from Ineos Grenadiers. And the same can be said about their team on this tour as well. We can find Columbian Daniel Martinez as the leader of the team with the odds of 34.00 to win the title. He won this year’s Tour of the Basque Country and finished third in the 2022 Paris-Nice. He will be riding along with Adam Yates, who was second behind Pogacar in the UAE Tour and 4th in the Paris-Nice. The British cyclist is very unpredictable. But online gambling sites in Switzerland still offer the odds of 6.50 for his victory.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6SWTTKfSs0 A third Ineos rider, Geraint Thomas chances are worse than that (17.00), especially if we check his recent results. The 2018 Tour de France winner hasn’t got any top 10 finish this season. While his last win is from the 2021 Tour de Romandie. Jakob Fuglsang from Israel-Premier Tech is also mentioned in the favorites with the odds of 9.00. The Danish rider won a smaller race, the Mercan Tour Classic this season. He can easily win a stage in this race but his overall victory is not so likely. Unlike Astana rider Alexey Lutsenko’s win who has the odds of 21.00 on bet365. The Kazakh cyclist was 7th in last year’s Tour de France and second in the 2021 Criterium du Dauphine. He hasn’t raced too much this season but he can be strong both in the mountains and in the time trial.
