In the VTB United League 2020-21 season top Russian, Eastern and Northern European men basketball teams are competing. CSKA Moscow are the last champions and the top favorites again in the VTB United League winner odds. But fellow Russian teams will surely try to defeat them which they’ve only managed to do once so far.
The VTB United League is an international men’s basketball league but also functions as the first tier of the Russian basketball. So all top Russian clubs play in the league. Along with teams from neighboring countries like Estonia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Poland. But since the establishment of the league in 2008, teams from Ukraine, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania have also participated in the competition. This season 13 teams compete in the league which runs between 20 September and 25th April 2021. CSKA Moscow are the absolute favorites as they have won all except one season. VTB United League winner odds favor CSKA Moscow for another title
CSKA Moscow are one of the best teams in Europe. They have been absolutely dominating in the Russian then VTB United League. They won 50 championship, 7 cup and 10 VTB United League titles beside their 8 EuroLeague victories. The team signed Georgian Tornike Shengelia this summer, who is one of the best European players at the moment. He was a member of the All-EuroLeague team in 2018 and became Spanish champion with Baskonia. CSKA’s squad has been already very strong with players like American Mike James, Will Clyburn and Serbian Nikola Milutinov. Their biggest rival can be the only team who already managed to win the VTB United League beside them, Khimki. The team is the eternal runner-up after finishing 11 times in the second place in the Russian championship. They were also the runner-up four times in this league beside their solo victory in 2011. For the new season the club signed Greg Monroe from Bayern who became the 4th American player in the team. The classic center has already shown his talent in Bayern. Zenit with a chance to win the league
Online gambling sites in Russia also mention Zenit St Petersburg in the favorites, but their odds are much higher, 11.00 to actually win the league. The club was established in 2014 under this name but they’ve already achieved nice results. Like winning the bronze medals three times in the VTB United League and finishing as a runner-up in the EuroChallange cup. Last season they were not too convincing. But the signing of Canadian Kevin Pangos from Barcelona might be a good step to imrove things. Even though he missed last season due to injury he got to the EuroLeague’s Final Four with his previous team, Zalgiris in 2018. Under new Zenit manager Xavi Pascual he could be the leader of the team alongside top scorer Billy Baron.
