Right now, they are looking for proposals from contractors who seek interest in the case. We know Chicago for so many things. For sports fans, we do not have to introduce the Bulls. Everyone is familiar with what a Chicago-style deep dish pizza is, and the same is true for hot dogs. The city is also famous for its jazz music history, and gangsters from the 20’s like Al Capone. There are also all those famous buildings with architectural value, like the Sears Tower. Not to mention the amazing beaches and blue waters! The first steps

On April 22nd, officials publish a request for proposals to look for ideas to build the new Windy City Casino Resort in Chicago. The deadline for submissions is August 23rd. They would like to see the new building ready by 2025. The city – more exactly the Mayor, Lori Lightfoot – hopes to see Las Vegas-based casino-resorts submitting their proposals. At a virtual conference, she said: “It’s not just building a box but building a real world-class entertainment destination (…) We want to make sure that who we partner with is serious about Chicago and understands the unique opportunities that are here. As I said before, we’re excited that we’ve attracted the interest of very serious and accomplished gaming interests from Las Vegas. The Windy City Casino Resort in Chicago

This is going to be a huge hit, once ready! There are some aspects that are not yet determined about the building. For example, they do not have the exact site for it. However, there are several facts we already know about the casino. The city will award one casino license. The license holder will be able to operate a temporary casino for up to 24 months. It is though a subject of a 12-month extension so that it can generate revenue before the opening date. Last year, the state Legislature approved the Illinois Gambling Act. According to that, whoever wins the license, could construct the resort, determined by the winning applicant. And not just that! They could also install slot machines at the city’s major airports. One of them is O’Hare International and the other one is Midway International. Imagine not just spinning slots online, on Ignition Casino, but at airports, while waiting for your flights!

New horizons for Chicago

The Windy City Casino resort is something that Chicago really needs. According to Lightfoot, the Bulls’ city is the largest metropolitan area that does not have a casino resort. So, this is one of the country’s most attractive developments from the past years. Just think about it: it has 9.5 million residents. In 2019 the city had 60 million domestic, and 1.5 million international visitors! So a new casino is something to look forward to. This is probably why all the local magazines and online gambling new sites in the US deal with the topic. So far, the main question is how the licensed operator will be able to deal with the huge opportunity. For example, a great question is if the gaming operator will be able to incorporate the building into the cultural scene of the city. Also: if the casino resort can fit into the public transit infrastructure and the diversified economy. For now, we can only hope that the city and the contractor can live up to the expectations!
