World Cup Wager Wins Rwandan Rwf156 Million

Rwandan wager nets a fortune for Munyakazi as he accurately predicts the precise scores of five games in the World Cup

The 34 year old cattle trader who has long been interested in online sportsbooks collected his winnings from the Societe De Lotteries PariSportif (LPS) on Tuesday.

The Regional Director of the LPS, Jean Pierre Murama, hailed this as a landmark moment in Rwanda and in the African sports betting industry.

“We have generated millions in governmental taxes and have given millions to players since we began but Munyakazi’s case has amazed us.” He said.

Mr. Munyakazi was likewise a little amazed.

“I never thought LPS Rwanda would pay me such an amount of money.” He told local news sources.
