Georgia v Greece

Despite a disappointing performance in the European qualifiers, Georgia now stands on the brink of their first-ever Euro finals appearance, thanks to their strong showings in the UEFA Nations League and a decisive 2-0 win over Luxembourg in the semi-final. Willy Sagnol’s team will rely on their upcoming match in Tbilisi against Greece, with the victor securing a spot at Euro 2024, the most-awaited football tournament at 22BET.

While Georgia enjoys the advantage of playing at home, they still need to make plans for accommodations in Germany, considering they are seen as underdogs in this game. This perception stems from their lower FIFA ranking compared to Greece by 28 places and their history of never defeating Greece in nine past encounters (with two draws and seven losses). Nevertheless, Georgia’s recent record at home is strong, with four undefeated games (three wins and one draw), instilling a cautious sense of optimism in their camp.

On the other side, Greece, the 2004 European champions, are looking to return to the Euro finals after their last appearance in 2012. Their recent form, highlighted by a commanding 5-0 victory over Kazakhstan in the semi-final and three consecutive clean-sheet wins in qualifiers (with three wins, one draw, and one loss overall), suggests they are regaining their competitive edge at a crucial moment.

Adding to their resurgence is the impact of Gus Poyet as manager, with Greece claiming 12 wins out of 20 games under his leadership. Their strong defensive performances, evident in ten victories without conceding a goal under Poyet, have been critical to their success. However, despite their undefeated head-to-head record, they have only managed three clean sheets against Georgia.

Ukraine v Iceland

Given the ongoing strife in the nation, it would be a noteworthy accomplishment for Ukraine to secure a spot in UEFA Euro 2024. Despite not having played a home game for over two years, Serhiy Rebrov’s team is just 90 minutes away from their fourth consecutive European Championships, facing Iceland in a decisive play-off final in Poland. By the way, online gambling sites in Poland still have odds of each pair’s winner.

The team’s journey to this stage included a 2-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semi-final, extending their unbeaten streak to four matches (winning three and drawing one). However, they face a challenge in overcoming their historical struggle in final play-off matches, having won only one out of seven such matches in FIFA World Cup or European Championship competitions (against Slovenia in 2015).

This may boost the confidence of their opponents, particularly after Iceland’s impressive 4-1 victory over Israel, described by manager Age Hareide as their best performance under his leadership. Iceland, aiming for only their second European Championships appearance since their quarter-final run in 2016, is in good form with three consecutive wins, all achieved away from home since January 2020. However, they have found it difficult to defeat top-ranked teams on foreign soil, having not won against any team ranked in FIFA’s top 30 since their success against Turkey in October 2017.

Wales v Poland

After decisive victories in their play-off semi-finals on Thursday, Wales and Poland are set to clash for a spot in this summer’s UEFA European Championships. Wales convincingly defeated Finland 4-1 in Cardiff. However, manager Rob Page cautioned that it’s only “half-time” for the team, emphasizing the need to avoid missing out on a major tournament for only the second time since 2016.

Wales enters the match with significant momentum, boasting a seven-match unbeaten streak—four wins and three draws. The team’s confidence is bolstered by its strong home record in Euro qualifiers, having lost just one of its last 16 matches. However, its record against Poland is challenging, as it hasn’t won any of its last nine meetings since its initial victory in March 1973.

Poland arrives in Cardiff confidently after a 5-1 victory over ten-man Estonia in Warsaw, marking their largest winning margin since October 2021. With five unbeaten matches (three wins and two draws), they aim to avoid missing out on the Euro finals for the first time since 2004.

Despite their recent struggles away from home, including three consecutive losses before defeating the Faroe Islands in October, Poland may be fine with facing Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium. They have a strong record against Wales, winning six consecutive head-to-head matches, including a victory on Welsh soil in October 2022. Plus, online sportsbooks in Poland give them pretty nice odds on the Euro 2024 play-off final.
