  • 2021 Brabantse Pijl is held this week, on the 14th of April
  • It is one of the Flanders Classics but not part of the UCI World Tour
  • Wout van Aert is the top favorite ahead of Quick-Step riders Senechal and Lampaert

Wout van Aert is the top favorite in the 2021 Brabantse Pijl winner odds to win his second race of the season. The Belgian cyclist is in top form. He will also race without his main rivals, Mathieu van der Poel and Julian Alaphilippe this time. But we can still find other great cyclists who can make his job difficult on this Flanders Classics.

The Flanders Classic race of Brabantse Pijl might not be the part of the UCI World Tour but it is still an important race in the season. The one-day event goes back to a long history with the first race being held in 1961. Belgian Edwig Van Hooydonck won the race the most times, on four occasions. But we can also find more famous names like Oscar Freire, Peter Sagan and Sylvain Chavanel in the previous winners. Julian Alaphilippe is the defending champion but he won’t compete this year. Unlike the local favorite, Wout van Aert who replaced the postponed Paris-Roubaix race with this event. The race between Leuven and Overijse will be 201km long and contains 27 hills. They might not be too hard alone but having 27 of them surely will tire out the riders.

Belgian top cyclist leads the 2021 Brabantse Pijl winner odds

Online sportsbooks in Belgium offer the smallest odds, 3.00 for the victory of their local favorite, Wout van Aert. Even though the Jumbo-Visma rider will make his debut in the race this year. But van Aert is in great form after winning another one-day Classics, the Gent-Wevelgem race two weeks ago. He also finished second in the overall standing in this year’s Tirreno-Adriatico. And third in the 2021 Milan-San Remo. Without his main rivals, Mathieu van der Poel and Julian Alaphilippe, who both won this race before, his win seems almost unavoidable.

Let’s race!

But let’s see who else can go for the victory this time. First we have to mention French Florian Senechal, who has been riding superbly this season. He finished second in the E3 Saxo Bank Classics also held in Belgium. While he was in the top 10 in both the Omloop and the Tour of Flanders. The Quick-Step rider is a real one-day specialist  and in the absence of his teammate, Alaphilippe, he is a serious contender as well. Senechal has the odds of 10.00 in the 2021 Brabantse Pijl winner odds.

Lampaert, Matthews and Stuyven are also in the favorites

His teammate, Yves Lampaert can also be in the top riders at this race. The Belgian cyclist is the 2018 National Road champion and the two-time winner of another Belgian Classics, the Dwars door Vlaanderen. He finished fourth there two weeks ago which was also his best result of the season. Now online gambling sites in Belgium offer the odds of 15.00 for his victory.

Just like for the win of Australian Michael Matthews from Team BikeExchange. Matthews was sixth in this year’s Milan-San Remo and fifth in the Gent-Wevelgem. But he only finished 21st in the Tour of Flanders which was a disappointment for the whole team. Now the Aussie cyclist can ride for another great result in one of his favorite races. Where he already finished twice as a runner-up. In the list of great Belgian riders we also have Jasper Stuyven who won his first big race, the 2021 Milan-San Remo race this season. He also finished fourth in the 2021 Tour of Flanders which might be a promising sign for the Trek-Segafredo cyclist. His odds to win his second event of the season is 21.00 now on 22Bet.
