2022 will be a busy year for figure skaters due to the 2022 Winter Olympics in February. It also means that some of the biggest tournaments of the sport are held at an earlier date as usual. Like the 2022 European Championships which will take place next week in Estonia. After the cancellation of last year’s event, surely every figure skating fans are excited to see the best skaters on the continent again. Including the Russian stars who are also huge favorites to win at the Olympics in Beijing. In the women’s event, it’s hard to see anyone beating the Russian girls where we can meet the latest talent, Kamila Valieva. And Russian skaters can occupy the podium in the men’s, pairs, and ice dance competition too. Just like they did two years ago, in 2020 when all events were won by Russian athletes.

2022 European Figure Skating  Championship Odds Favor Valieva in the Women’s Event

Russian figure skating has been successful for several decades now, but what we can see recently in the women’s race is really extraordinary. As every year there is a pack of new, young talents, who are even better than the previous ones and beat them in the major competitions. Since 2015 only Russian women skaters won the European title. What is even more impressive, it was a new skater almost every year. Only Evgenia Medvedeva could defend her 2016 title in the following year. This year we can witness the same thing with the latest talent, Kamila Valieva beating her more experienced compatriots.

The 15-year-old junior world champion has already won her first two senior Grand Prix in Canada and Sochi with new world records. And she also won the 2022 Russian Championships ahead of Alexandra Trusova and Anna Shcherbakova, the reigning world champion. So it’s not surprising that online sportsbooks in Russia offer the smallest odds, 1.15 for her victory in Tallinn. Everyone can make a mistake, so we shouldn’t rule out that either Trusova or Shcherbakova can defeat her. But after the season Valieva is having so far, it’s hard to imagine that. If you can, the  2022 European Figure Skating Championship odds offer the odds of 8.00 for Trusova and the odds of 11.00 for Shcherbakova’s victory.

Russian Skaters Can Win All The Other Events

In the men’s race, Russia’s dominance is not as clear, but after the retirement of the 7-time European champion Javier Fernandez, Russian men skaters can win this event too. Mikhail Kolyada is the biggest favorite from them with the odds of 1.80. The two-time European bronze medalist finished second in the 2022 Russian Championships in December.  In spite of standing only in fifth place after the short program. He might need more in Tallinn now to win his first title. As his fellow Russian skaters, Evgeniy Semenko and Mark Kondratiuk can beat him. Actually, Kondratiuk just did it in the national championship. Both 18-year-old skaters will make their debuts in the event with the odds of 2.85 and 6.90 to win it.

Online gambling sites in Russia also favor Russian pairs to finish on the podium in both the pairs and ice dance competitions. We might see the tightest race between the three Russian pairs. Including the defending European champions, Aleksandra Boikova/Dmitrii Kozlovskii, and the two-time champion Evgenia Tarasova/Vladimir Morozov pair. While the 2022 Russian champions, Anastasia Mishina/Aleksandr Galliamov pair have the smallest odds, 1.995 on 1xBet to win. After the withdrawal of the French 5-time European champion Gabriella Papadakis/Guillaume Cizeron ice dance pair, Russians can take the gold medal in this event too. With the 2021 world champions, Victoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov pair being the main favorite.
