Sunderland manager Gus Poyet looks to build on current momentum with the addition of several notable players.

Sunderland managed to improve their standing in the Premier League last season by clinching a 14th spot finish. The year before that they were scarily close to the relegation zone, as they finished in 17th place in the 2012-13 season.

The club has decided to appoint Uruguayan Gus Poyet in 2013 to head the team. Considering their improvement from the season before, he did a solid job. The summer transfer window saw the Black Cats make great singings for the club. That is why some mobile betting providers have given them reasonable odds of finishing top half of the table.

The Black Cats complete major signings to complement the squad

Bet365 assigned Sunderland odds of 3.50 (5/2) to claim a spot in the top half of the charts, something that remains possible considering their team’s potential. They have recruited talented midfielder Jack Rodwell from Manchester City for around GBP 9 million, as they hope to proceed further up the table.

The Black Cats also transferred defender Patrick van Aanholt from Chelsea and midfielder Will Buckley from Brighton. Defender Billy Jones, midfielder Jordi Gomez and goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon all came in on a free transfer. And lastly, Sunderland also signed defender Santiago Vergini from CA Fenix on a loan deal.
