The Improbable Odds In The 2019 Preakness Stakes Tempt Many

  • Improbable Odds In The 2019 Preakness Stakes Ride High At 7/4
  • Online Bovada Offers Up Attractive 11/4 On War Of Will To
  • Weather Set To Far Better In Baltimore Than It Was In Kentucky

The Kentucky Derby post-mortem may continue unabated but this Saturday the second leg of the Triple Crown will be run at Pimlico and despite the absence at least two of the major competitors there are some interesting if improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes. But without CountryHouse and Maximum Security just which of the runners should you be backing at Bovada, one of the best online sportsbook sites in the US right now? We take a look at the faff and the field.

You have to feel a little sorry for Luis Saez who won the Kentucky Derby on Maximum Security and was then classified 17th after he was found to have impeded other horses. Whether he did or not, and whether it was his fault, is a little in the eye of the beholder, although racing authorities in the US now want him to serve a 15 day ban which would take him out of the Belmont Stakes too, the Improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes already reflecting he won’t be running.

This is, to put it mildly, a little harsh. The Kentucky Derby was a washout that probably shouldn’t have gone ahead, that he was disqualified from getting the win probably far more than enough punishment in the view of those who like to bet on sports in the US. That we now have favorite status being given to the Improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes reflects the absence of both Maximum Security and the lucky Kentucky Derby winner, Country House.

Bovada Offers Up Superb Racing Odds Prior To Preakness

The Kentucky Derby winner not running in the Preakness is unfortunate, it means this year we’ll not have a Triple Crown winner, and without Maximum Security it is the Improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes that have come to the fore. Improbable now sits at just 7/4 as favorite just clear of War Of Will at 11/4, and it could be a very close battle between these two in far, far better weather conditions. There are other horses running, but these two are the ones to watch.

The Preakness Stakes

  • Date: May 18th 2019
  • Track: Pimlico Racecourse
  • Location: Baltimore, Maryland, USA
  • Distance: 9½ Furlongs
  • Type: Flat
  • Qualification: 3 year olds
  • Weights: 57kg / 55kg
  • Surface: Dirt
  • Purse: $1,500,000

Improbable finished 4th in Louisville and fares very well over a mile, although both Omaha Beach and Long Range Toddy have got the better of it, and whilst the Improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes make it favorite doesn’t mean it’s a shoo-in. War Of Will will attract plenty of people to take advantage of US gambling laws too. It loiters at around 11/4 right now on Bovada, although frankly its results lately have been a little too hit and miss for that price.

Improbable Odds in The 2019 Preakness Stakes Just 7/4

Away from these two favorites then Laughing Fox languishes at the back on 25/1 with Market King only just ahead on 20/1, massively off those Improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes, and whilst Bodexpress seems tighter on 16/1 that’s still way outside in a race like this. Signalman gets 14/1 with both Warriors Charge and Win WinWin sitting at 12/1 themselves apparently set to be pipped to the post by Owendale which gets 11/1 and still doesn’t really have a hope.

Preakness Stakes Odds 2019 at Bovada

  • Laughing Fox – 25/1
  • Market King – 20/1
  • Bodexpress – 16/1
  • Signalman – 14/1
  • Warriors Charge – 12/1
  • Win WinWin – 12/1
  • Owendale – 11/1
  • Anothertwistafate – 9/1
  • Alwaysmining – 8/1
  • Bourbon War – 7/1
  • War Of Will – 11/4
  • Improbable – 7/4

Anothertwistafate gets 9/1 and could get a place finish I suppose, whilst Alwaysmining may need to dig deep if it wants to get a top three finish at that 8/1 price it gets at Bovada, one of the best online betting sites in the US these days. Of course the sensible each-way wager might be plumping for Bourbon War at 7/1 which rounds out the field and whilst that’s still nowhere near the Improbable odds in the 2019 Preakness Stakes gives it a superb chance of a place at the line.
