The best ski jumpers will meet in the 2021 Nordic World Ski Championships between the 23rd of February and 7th of March in Oberstdorf, Germany. A tight race is expected between the overall World Cup leader Halvor Egner Granerud and defending large hill champion Markus Eisenbichler. Both athletes belong to the top favorites in the Men’s Ski Jumping World Championship betting predictions.  Two individual events will be held in both the men’s and women’s ski jumping in the next 10 days in the Nordic World Ski Championship. First the athletes will compete in the normal hill, the so-called HS106 category at the weekends. While the large hill, HS137 competition takes place next Wednesday and Friday. Five jumping hills are in the ski jumping arena including the two big hills, HS 137 and HS 106. Most athletes will already be familiar with the Schattenberg Hill. As it also hosts the traditional opening event of the 4 Hills Tournament every December. In the men’s events Norwegian world cup leader and the defending champion can fight for the gold. But Polish athletes like the defending champion in the normal hill, David Kubacki.  And the current Four Hills Tournament winner Kamil Stoch can also fight for the title.

Online sportsbooks in Germany offer the smallest odds, 3.20 for the victory of the current overall world cup leader, Halvor Egner Granerud to win the normal hill event. The Norwegian athlete is having a brilliant season after winning 11 individual events this season. Before this season he hasn’t even got any podium finishes and only finished 65th in the overall standing last season. It is a huge improvement from the 24-year-old athlete who also won the individual silver in the 2020 Sky Flying World Championships last December. His biggest rival can be Markus Eisenbichler according to the Men’s Ski Jumping World Championship betting predictions. The German won the gold in large hill in the previous world championship, but he can do well in this event too. He had a great opening in Obertsdorf after having the biggest jumps in both training. Eisenbichler is familiar with the hill as he practices here regularly. Now his odds to win the normal hill competition is 4.94 on 22Bet. While the defending champion of the event, Dawid Kubacki has the odds of 13.00 to win again. The Polish jumper finished third in the Four Hills Tournament and won one world cup event in the season so far.

Same top favorites in large hill

Even though Eisenbichler is the defending champion in large hill, Granerud is the top favorite in this event too. The Norwegian has the odds of 2.00 to win next Friday while the German’s odds are 6.75. Well, it makes sense as Granerud won most world cup large hill events in the season. But the world champion has been performing well too and follows Granerud in second place in the world cup. Online gambling sites in Germany also mention the 2019 World Cup winner Ryoyu Kobayashi in the favorites with the odds of 12.00. The Japanese jumper dominated the 2018-2019 season but has been struggling since. Most recently he managed to win two world cup events as a promising sign for his fans. He only won a bronze medal in the team event last time but now he can try to get a medal in the individual race too. Meanwhile Slovenian Anze Lanisek is also enjoying a great season after finishing four times on the podium. Winning the gold in the world championship would exceed all the expectations but might come true. He has the odds of 10.00 to achieve that.
