NME’s critic, Hannah Jane Parkinson found Alt-J’s Relaxer a “great album, if not entirely relaxing,” while Consequence of Sound concluded that band sacrificed the album’s “sense of cohesion” for the sake of experimentation. Being associated with the likes of Kanye West and Frank Ocean, the bar was raised incredibly high for Sampha. Still, he managed to exceed expectations. Sampha’s highly anticipated debut album, Process, is one of the most acclaimed releases of 2017. Its 86/100 Metascore is 92% positive. As The Guardian put, the album “throws up some new, previously unnoticed innovation” at each listen.
