86th Academy Awards
This year’s Academy Awards will be 86th in history, starting from the very first ceremony at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in 1929. The ceremony is being televised since 1953 and enjoys huge popularity with viewers across the globe.
Naturally, the crème de la crème of the movie business both American and international will be there in Hollywood to attend the evening and hope to take home the golden statuette. This time around it will be held on March 2nd at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
The prize itself is officially called the Academy Award of Merit, but most commonly referred to as Oscar. It is the ultimate prize any movie actor, director, and anyone else connected with the business can wish for. The statuette is made of gold-plated britannium.

There are now three movies that have won the most Oscars: 11. These are Ben-Hur from 1959, Titanic from 1997, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King from 2003. Titanic is also one of two films to receive the most nominations – 14, the other was All About Eve from 1950. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King has made history not only by winning 11 statuettes, but by winning all categories it was nominated in.
