This is one the most obvious, but most frequently overlooked. People tend towards optimism where none is applicable. They think in a two horse race it could always go either way. 3. Jacksonville Jaguars Win The NFL
It would be nice to say that perhaps next year they’ll stand a chance. Have some hope. Be able to taste the dream. But you’d have to be suffering from terminal positivity to actually bet on the Jaguars to win the NFL. A bet on the NFL shouldn’t leave you quite so far adrift from reality. There are far better teams with lots more chance. So, this is perhaps the easiest of the sports bets in 2021 to dismiss. Of course, the odds on them coming last in the NFL next year might tempt.
4. Donald Trump Wins The Boston Marathon
Whilst a bet on Donald Trump is the example we’ve chosen, this applies to all famous people attempting sporting prowess. From swimming the channel to hiking the length of the nation these well-known faces are never worth backing. Yes, yes, they do it for charity and that’s all very laudable, however, it’s no basis for a gambling strategy. Under no circumstances should you ever take advantage of UK gambling laws to make sports bets in 2021 which include celebrities.
5. Aston Villa Win The English Premier League
Yeah, I know, it’s laughable. A bet on Aston Villa to win the EPL is tricky to even place amongst sports bets in 2021. Making it probably counts as a cry for help. Something for social services to deal with. Partly because they’re useless right now, but mostly because it’s hard to win the EPL if you’re relegated out of it. 6. Tiger Woods Wins All Four Major Tournaments
He has, on occasion, surprised us all. His talent is undebatable. However, the idea that even Tiger can make a clean sweep of the four golfing majors in 2021 is insane. At Tiger’s age, the odd victory is all he can expect, frankly, and whilst he’s a great bet on golf, this is a bet too far. Yeah, okay, you got me. This isn’t a particularly serious entry on our list of sports bets in 2021 you shouldn’t make. A bet on Lewis Hamilton winning the F1 world championship is almost guaranteed to win. Winning a boxing bout? Not so much. However, it’s nice to take a moment out to think of him in a more competitive environment. One where he faces more challenge. More risk. Picture him in the ring with Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua.
