The first race in Round of 8 in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series is held this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Chase Elliott is leading the championship and can get another good result on this track. It will be the fifth edition of the second race held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the South Point 400. The race is the first event of the round of 8 in this season’s playoff, with only three more races remaining. Chase Elliott leads the championship at the moment, but even 8th-placed Chase Briscoe is within 40 points distance. So we should expect another thrilling race over the 267 laps of the 1,5 mile-long track. Danny Hamlin won here last year, while the other previous winners: Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr, and Kurt Busch have been already eliminated. Just like the defending Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson, so he won’t defend his title. Let’s see who can make a big step toward it this weekend.

Hamlin Tops the 2022 NASCAR South Point 400 Odds

Denny Hamlin is currently in 7th place in the championship, 33 points behind the leader, Elliott. So he would need a good result in order to secure his place in the final four. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has two wins this season from Richmond and Charlotte besides six top 5 finishes. Hamlin has great results from the Las Vegas track in spite of finishing only 35th in the first race here this year. But he won this autumn race last year and was third in the year before. Making him the top favorite of online sportsbooks in the US. They offer the odds of +500.00 for his third victory of the season.

The championship leader, Chase Elliott follows him in the  2022 NASCAR South Point 400 odds with +800.00. The 2020 Cup Series champion won four races this season including one on in the playoff, strengthening his place in the top four. He has mixed results from this track after finishing second last year, and only 22nd in 2020. Last weekend Elliott only finished in 20th place so he will surely aim for a better result now. Just like Kyle Larson who just missed out in the Round of 8 after a poor race in Charlotte. But he has been successful at this track lately. After winning here last spring and finishing second this season. The defending champion might not be as motivated as before. But he is still one of the top favorites with the odds of 800.00.

Bell, Chastain and the chances of other playoff drivers

Christopher Bell is in 4th place in the table with a big chance of getting the best result of his career this season. The 27-year-old just won his first ever NASCAR Cup Series race in Charlotte last weekend. He only finished 24th in this race in the last two years. But based on his form, he can do much better now. Online gambling sites in the US also offer the odds of +800.00 for his second consecutive win. Another contender for this year’s championship title is Ross Chastain, who is in third place. The Trackhouse Racing Team driver also got his first Cup Series win this season with his victory in Austin.

Soon after he also won in Talladega. While he also finished on the podium five more times. Chastain was third here this spring, now his odds to finish on top are +900.00. The same odds are offered for Tyler Reddick who has been eliminated after Round of 16. The Richard Childress Racing driver was driving well in the season and won three races. But his performance was just not enough for the playoff. Reddick can still win here according to the bookmakers. Just like Kyle Busch who is also out of the title race this year. The two-time champion was third here last autumn, and was close to winning a few more times. His odds to get it now are +1000.00 on BetOnline.
