Upcoming F1 Rule Changes in 2022

The upcoming F1 rule changes were set to debut in 2021 but were delayed. The regulations will be applied in the 2022 season. The purpose of them is to increase the competitiveness and dynamics of F1 cars. That means that they will look different, of course. F1 returns to wheel covers, and the cars get over-wheel winglets for better aerodynamical adjustability. The size of the wheels will change to 18 inches. With bigger wheels, the tires won’t get too overheated. The front and rear wings will be redesigned, as well. The shapes will be more rounded, helping with the airflow. They also regulated the fuel consistency, making it more bio. For safety reasons, the chassis will be built stronger. In case of a crash, the fuel tank will remain tucked away, and the chance of fire or explosion will reduce.  The weight is changing with the new improvements. The machines will weigh almost 40 kg more than before, with 790 kg. Since the wheels will be bigger, they will add plus heaviness. However, the new features will increase the weight, as well. The new machines look bulkier and more massive. Let’s hope they will live up to the expectations and perform well. According to online sportsbook sites in the UK, cars have been tested many times and the upcoming F1 rule changes are ready for the 2022 season. We will have to wait and see how the drivers and teams adjust to the new race car, but till then, F1 bets are available, check them out at 22Bet Sportsbook

The New Line-Up

The 10 teams announced the official list of drivers, as well. Valtteri Bottas will join Alfa Romeo, after racing for five years with Mercedes. His partner will be the Chinese Guanyu Zhou.

They will replace Raikkonen and Giovinazzi. We have bad news for Kimi Raikkonen fans. The Finnish pilot will not join another team, he decided to retire from F1 after the 2021 season. George Russel will replace Bottas and team up with one of the most successful F1 drivers, Lewis Hamilton. Check out the special bets concerning the new Mercedes pilot at 22Bet. Albon will join the Williams-Mercedes, but the other pilots will remain with their teams.

Changes in The 2022 Calendar

The FIA’s World Motor Sport Council approved the new 23 Grand Prix schedule for the 2022 F1 season. The next season will be the biggest in F1 history, and yet, it will finish earlier than before. The 2022 season will start on March 20 and end on November 20. The calendar has many new changes, as well. The race will leave China out of the schedule next year, while a new GP in Miami will take place. Miami hasn’t hosted an F1 race since the 50s, so it will be a grand return on May 6. F1 canceled the races in Suzuka, Melbourne, and Montreal this year, but they confirmed the return of the three venues in 2022. A minor change will occur during the Monaco Grand Prix. Instead of the usual four days, the event will last for only three.

The Russian GP will change venues in 2023, so Sochi will have its last race in 2022 before St Petersburg takes over the role of host. Bahrein will host the first race and Abu Dhabi the last. Saudi Arabia will launch its first Grand Prix in December 2021, but its return in 2022 is confirmed. Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of Formula1 said: “We are very pleased with the interest in Formula 1 from places that want to host races and the growth of the sport and believe we have a fantastic calendar for 2022 with destinations like Miami joining famous and historic venues.” It will be a tight schedule, with the 23 races, but the drivers and teams will have an extra month to take a long rest and get ready for the next season. The next season will serve as the test season for the upcoming F1 rule changes.
