The Tour of Britain goes back to a long history, with the first edition being held in 1945 called Victory Marathon that time. The current version of the race has been organized since 2004 as a part of the UCI European Tour. After the cancellation of last year’s event, the race is back this year covering more than 1300km in 8 stages. Most of them include hills in the Welsh and Scottish region, but there will be two flat stages and a team time trial as well. Mathieu van der Poel won the last race in 2019 but he won’t compete this time due to his back injury. In his absence, his main rivals, Wout van Aert and Julian Alaphilippe are the biggest favorites.

2021 Tour of Britain Winner Odds Highly Favor Van Aert

Wout van Aert has been having a brilliant season so far. The Jumbo-Visma rider won two one-day classics, the Gent-Wevelgem and the Amstel Gold Race. He also got three stage victories in the Tour de France. Plus the silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the road race. But his list of success is almost endless with more podium finishes in the Tirreno-Adrietico, Brabantse Pijl, and Milan-San Remo. It’s not surprising that online sportsbooks in the UK offer the smallest odds, 1.50 for his overall victory. Even though he is riding on his first Tour of Britain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuA4kdju2mA His biggest rival can be the reigning road world champion, Julian Alaphilippe who has the odds of 6.00 in the 2021 Tour of Britain winner odds. The French won the race three years ago, in 2018. Now his experience can be an advantage over van Aert. Alaphilippe also got some good results this season. Like winning La Fleche Wallonne and finishing second in the 2021 Liege-Bastone-Liege monument. While he also won the first stage in this year’s Tour de France. Alaphilippe will be supported by a strong Quick-Step team including Mikkel Honore, Yves Lampaert, and Mark Cavendish. Honore can be an alternative option to lead the team in the case of Alaphilippe’s weaker performance.

2021 Tour of Britain Winner Odds: What About Other GC Rider Favorites?

Team Ineos will also compete in the race with a very strong team like always. Michal Kwiatkowski is predicted to be the strongest to fight for the overall victory with the odds of 7.00. The Polish cyclist has already won stages in this tournament and finished second in the overall race in 2014. This season he hasn’t got such results but he is a strong rider who can do well in the mountain stages. His teammate, Ethan Hayter can struggle on a big climb but can do well in the overall race. Online gambling sites in the UK offer the odds of 8.00 for his victory.

Which is not impossible following his overall victory in this year’s Tour of Norway a few weeks ago. And his stage wins at the 2021 Volta ao Algarve and Vuelta a Andalucia. The 22-year-old British rider is a huge talent and can do well on home soil in front of local fans. Who will surely also support their favorite, Mark Cavendish. Who won the most stages (10) so far and can add more wins to his tally this year. Canadian Michael Woods and Irish Dan Martin from Israel-Start Up Nation can also be strong contenders. Woods finished 5th in this year’s Tour de Romandie and Tour de Suisse, while Martin won one stage in this year’s Giro. Their odds to win the blue jersey are 19.00 and 34.00 on bet365.
