The preliminary round of the 2022/23 LEN Champions League started last week, on the 15th of November, and will last until next May. The 16 best European men’s water polo clubs compete in two groups of eight in a round-robin format. The best four teams from each group will advance to the final 8, who can continue in the knockout stage. Pro Recco have been the most successful club in the history of the competition with 9 wins. Former Yugoslavian, now Croatian and Serbian clubs, Mladost and Partizan follow it with 7-7 wins. But Hungarian, Greek, and Spanish clubs also won multiple titles. We can find them among the top favorites again, let’s see their odds below.

The 2022/23 LEN Champions League Winner Odds Mention Three Favorites

Vk Novi Belgrade were last season’s runners-up after the Serbian club lost in the final against Pro Recco. It was their first season in the top water polo club tournament, making this result even more impressive. In the new season,  the team will try again to win the title under the management of the new head coach, Zivko Gocic. Players like Dusan Mandovic, Strahinja Rasovic, and the new addition, Spanish Alvaro Granados can help to achieve it. Belgrade had a good start in Group B with an easy win against German Spandau 04 Berlin. Online sportsbooks in Serbia favor them to win the title and offer the smallest odds, 2.74 for their victory.

The defending champion, Pro Recco follows them closely in the 2022/23 LEN Champions League winner odds with 2.99. The Italian club plays in Group A but surprisingly lost its first match against Olympiacos. The Greek team was led by the former coach of Novi Belgrade, Igor Milanovic who had his last game against Pro Recco last season. Now his new team won 9-7 at home, with the goals Filip Filipovic, Marton Vamos, and Alexandros Papanastasiou. Olympiacos won the Champions League title in 2018. Their odds to win it now are 3.99. Of course, we can’t write off Pro Recco either. As they still have such top players as Gergo Zalanki, Aaron Younger, and Marco Del Lungo on the roster.

Italian, Hungarian and Spanish clubs among other favorites

Another Italian club, AN Brescia can also win the title, even though their odds are significantly smaller at 9.97. The four-time LEN Euro Cup winner got to the semi-finals last season but finished in fourth place at the end. They started the new season in the qualification but won there easily. And Alessandro Bovo’s team continued in similar form after they won their first group match against Jug Dubrovnik. Stefano Luongo, Vincenzo Dolce, and Konstantin Kharkov all scored a few goals and led the team to victory. Online gambling sites in Serbia offer the same winning odds for the 2019 champion, Ferencvaros.

The Hungarian club also started the new season with a win against CN Sabadell. Goalkeeper Soma Vogel produced lots of fantastic saves, while Gergo Fekete and Daniil Merkulov scored twice. Denes Varga and head coach Zsolt Varga are also strong points of the team which finished third last season. CN Barceonata also reached the last eight in the previous season but lost against Pro Recco in the quarter-finals. Now Garcia Gonzalez’s team is another top team in Group A. They started in that manner with a confident win against Dinamo Tbilisi. The Spanish roster includes 8 players from the World Championship winner Spanish team. Making the club another top candidate for the tournament trophy. With an odds of 10.97 to get it.
