There have been already lots of controversies around this year’s Australian Open even though the tournament hasn’t even begun yet. Of course, the main scandal is about Novak Djokovic and if he can eventually play in the tournament or not. If he will compete, he is the biggest favorite to win the Open for a record 10th time. But his arch-rival, Rafael Nadal will also aim for victory and to become the most successful men’s player with 21 Grand Slam titles. And of course, stars of the next generation like Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas can all get the trophy. While Naomi Osaka is the defending champion in the women’s singles who will return after a very mixed last season. The world No1 and Aussie favorite Ashleigh Barty has never won on home soil yet. Now she will have another chance of changing this.

2022 Australian Open Predictions Slightly Favor Djokovic to Win

It must be very difficult to concentrate on playing tennis when you’re under the threat of being deported from a country. This is what Novak Djokovic had to face in the last few days and even now his situation is not 100% clear. Hopefully, he can take part in the tournament and perform on the level he is capable of. Online sportsbooks in Australia still favor him to win his 10th Australian Open title with the odds of 2.318. But his victory is not as sure as in other times due to his lack of preparation, practice time, and a probably hostile crowd.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRydx6wunU8 It can all favor world No2 Daniil Medvedev who has the odds of 2.60 to win his second Grand Slam title in Melbourne. The Russian player has already managed to defeat Djokovic in the 2021 US Open final which was his first GS victory. Last year the two of them also met in the Australian Open final where Djokovic won at the end. We might witness a different match this year though if both players could get there. Alexander Zverev can stop one of them and go all the way. The German world No3 won the 2021 ATP Finals and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics while he also reached the semi-final in Melbourne two years ago. His odds to win his first Grand Slam here are 3.80 on 22Bet. The 2022 Australian Open predictions only offer the odds of 8.90 for Rafael Nadal’s victory which would be also a record-breaking win.

Barty, Osaka, and Muguruza in Women’s Main Favorites

Ashleigh Barty has won two Grand Slam titles so far, the 2019 French Open and the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. In the Australian Open, her best result so far has been reaching the semi-final in 2020. She missed the last few events of the previous year in order to have some rest and only returned to the WTA Tour last week in Adelaide. She won that event after defeating Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina on her route. Now Barty’s odds to lift the trophy in front of the home fans are 3.96.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPY0hE1s4_Q Online gambling sites in Australia mention the defending champion, Naomi Osaka with the odds of 5.45 to win the title again. The Japanese player kept long breaks as well last season for the sake of her mental health but she is back now. Osaka won three matches last week in the Melbourne Summer Set 1 but had to withdraw in the semi-final due to an injury. The current world No13 can get back to winning in one of her favorite tournaments and move up on the world ranking. Spanish Garbine Muguruza has already reached the final here in 2020 but lost there against Sofia Kenin. The fresh winner of the 2021 WTA Finals can get another good result now with the odds of 10.50 to claim her third Grand Slam title.
